Too bad you lost vs boxer
best of luck with that running though

@decaf working there actually is pretty awesome, but drinking there is way way better
So if anyone of you guys ever comes to Munich go to the "Biergarten am Chinesischen Turm", which is probably also one of the most visited sites in Munich and it's in every Traveleres guide about Munich. I'll be there serving you the most awesome beer and food you have ever tasted

LoL dude I'm far from your average ignorant American. At least when it comes to foreign beer customs
Anyway try to fit in the entirety of the SS program. I'm not going to lie it will absolutely SUCK at first because if you aren't used to moving weights you will become a little sore. But that will eventually subside (for the most part at least). Luckily for you, the intense muscle burn and soreness called Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) is minimal in a program like SS. It's there at first while you are getting used to the movements but train through this feeling and it'll eventually go away almost completely. SS isn't designed to make your muscles sore by doing a million reps to failure.
Just remember to eat and sleep. And like I said before you might wind up making gains at a slower pace than outlined by the program but that is fine. You WILL still make gains. And your endurance will skyrocket if you keep increasing strength and still perform your job.

@MajinMojo I have no problem being sore at all and I know what I am expecting, which will probably be 1-2 weeks of soreness. My motto to beat soreness is always to do another gym session and not to take a break.
When I played Tennis I had 1,5hrs of Gym and 1,5hrs of sparring each day, which in the beginning ofcourse is hard, but your body get's used to it and I am not someone to quit because I am a little sore

That's the spirit! I forgot you said you were a tennis player. But yeah. SS has a way of making you tired without actually making you sore. At least not the soreness you'd expect from the endurance work your body has felt before. Just sayin' that's probably a plus for you since you will still be doing a lot of endurance based activities at work. So SS won't really "get in the way" of your work too much as long as you rest well. Rest is the key.
Idk how to give a good example. Or if it even accurately describes your schedule. But any person's body is used to its own environment. Like yours is already used to a routine of hard work and whatever. So adding SS on top of it and using your workdays as "recovery days" shouldn't be too terrible. Since the stresses of working at a biergarten is what your body might consider normal, this makes sense. The only problem is that since you are doing a high volume of work the recovery days won't be quite as efficient, hence maybe your strength gains will be a little slower than normal.
edit:/ gah that's a horrible explanation. I'll leave it there with the hope that someone realizes what I am trying to say and says it correctly.

ive been running every day for the past month or so. used to run in high school, spent college doing nothing but getting slow and fat. currently, quickly working up to about 30 miles per week. i have a sister who eats half marathons for breakfast - if i can keep up the work, id like to one day be able to say that i can beat a girl.

10% is so little even if you move up 5lb per session, especially for things like press.

Out of curiosity: where are we supposed to get equipment? Just go to a nearby gym? :x!

a regular commercial gym probably won't do, i use my university's gyms, which has platforms and bumper plates for oly lifts.

If you ever want advice on an endurance plan/progression I can help. I was a cyclist for a while and did a few years of an exercise science major before switching to bioengineering.
I've gotten pretty badly out of shape and as soon as exams are over (one week) I'm going to be starting up an endurance plan for myself.

Quick question- After you do your first workout, be your squats or your bench, how long long do you wait before you go onto your next workout? and what do you do during this time? eat/rest/cooldown?

giving up running is the best thing I ever did. all my life i have despised cario and forced myself to do it until a few months ago. I realized any weight loss you want to incur from running is better achieved by diet. I'd rather go for a 1.5hour walk on a diet than run for 30-45minutes anyway to supplement weight loss. I also realized that my VO^2max is quite decent from lifting heavy shit. my workouts aren't intense, I take long breaks, but lifting close to your max and going all out leaves your breathless, especially on deadlift/squats.

if you just dont give a fuck, run 50 miles a week!
