Let's say I'm at 20% bf and I'm on SS and paleo (pretty much identical to decaf's posted diet, minus milk, eggs & banana with a bit more veggies thrown in) but I'm undereating by a bit. At least i believe i am, i eat as much as i want when i want but if i counted it up it'd be (like) 2000cal. What will happen to me musclegain wise /fatloss wise/lift numbers wise in, say, 6 months to a year?
Uh, you likely need more protein
And like said, it depends on a lot of factors.
2,000 kcals isn't much

@Phyre: It is a classic case of get off the internet and visit your doctor.
@RosaPark: How are you right now, with the quake and all?

Yeah, I will be. I go home this week for spring break actually, so hopefully I'll have a chance to get an appointment in right there and I won't need to go to some stranger here in Syracuse.
|
^you'll wanna let the swelling go down first before you have it checked though. so RICE RICE RICE all the way.
played bball for the first time in years, something like 2 years i think. i was running the whole time on my toes (only at about 60-70% capacity though) and now my calf is like really, really sore. never been this sore in that area before, NEVER.
i guess the fact that it was cramping up during the game was a sign of things to come. hopefully i'll be able to recover enuf for another game the following week :D

Urgh, drinking tonight and lifting tomorrow, this shit ain't gonna be pretty

Unless you're like 5'2", 2000kcals won't be enough and like someone said you'll most likely lose muscle as well. This is assuming you want to gain weight and/or not lose muscle, of course.
Anyone know where the "standard" 2500 calories or whatever came about? I guess it's ok for people who aren't active at all, but it seems to be a contributing factor for skinny kids who don't understand why their muscles aren't growing.
Next week is spring break, so I will try to actually measure my caloric intake instead of just winging it and eating more than usual
Good luck with the knee phyre!

@Sam, there's no swelling to go down. My knees simply don't work correctly. I can't straighten my legs all the way without a huge amount of will, and some pain, they're not stable from side to side (basically they shake when I stand) and my hamstring and calves are also extremely sore and extremely tight. Had to grab something from under my bed a minute ago, and I had to have my room mate come help me up. I have almost no ability to transfer force through my legs towards the ground. Oddly enough though, if I have just a slight bend to my legs while I'm walking, such that my quads are flexed and taking on most of my weight, then I'm perfectly fine. It's ALL in the back/sides, not the front of my leg/knee.
Typically for calorie goals, I'll eat ~3k per day, and that was working for me for a while. I think I need to bump it up to 3500, but that would involve me going shopping and cooking more often, and I'm lazy. 2,000 will do you alright depending on your size and your goals; I'm 6'5 (197 cm) and 175 lb (just under 80 kg) and I'm ok with gaining slowly. If someone who were say 5'10 and relatively as thin as I am ate 3,000 calories per day, they would be a balloon.

I'm 5'11 & 170lb. I don't want to have cutting/bulking phases, I just want to eat healthy and look good. So far what I'm doing has been working great but I only started working out in 2011, so this is likely because I am a beginner. My lifestyle is also very sedentary right now apart from SS and will be until summer. I guess I'm gonna start counting what I'm eating.
So far I'm posting very consistent gains in all my lifts, but again, beginner.
What caloric intake should I aim for? And wtf is the website for the counter, i thought decaf's screenshot would have a watermark or url but it doesn't

Can't straight legs out all the way + instability = 99% chance of a meniscus injury. Back sides likely mean some posterior meniscus involvement... if it's more localized one side you may be able to tell if it was posterior horn of lateral or medial meniscus.
Swelling is pretty variable with menisci injuries. With ACL tear you almost 99% chance have swelling so that's why it's probably not that even given instability.
Orthopedic doc. See one. Family doc or GP won't be able to do anything for you. Prolly need an MRI.

Thanks Slithe!! Here be what I eat. I kind of suck at estimating vegetable amounts but should be okay. Am I undereating? What should I add? Many thanks

Yeah well I train in the morning before breakfast. Also my other meals are smaller I do have problems managing my diet though, that's for sure.
|
hehe no judgement i've been eating like a horse as well lately.
@radial: i would aim for about 2800 calories per day to maintain your weight and also be able to build new muscle tissue. of course, if you want to lose weight/burn fat you will have to go lower than that. also, you should get more veggies in your diet imo.

I was just wondering the same. You doing alright, Rosa? :o

Does the shakeweight actually work?
|
No.
Edit: Unless they are really heavy so you can use them as actual dumbbells
|
I'm cool everyone; thanks for your concern. I live in western Japan where the earthquake wasn't bad. To be honest, I was so absorbed in lifting when it hit that I didn't even notice it.
|
Guys it's OK. Rosa was actually going for a PR DL, and he dropped the bar from the top of the lift, CAUSING the quake. Not a big deal.

squatted 235 today, been making really good progress on it
everything else seems to be stalling
is it okay if i wear a knee pad when I squat? my right knee always feels funny the day after
