My prediction is for huk to beat idra and machine to beat incontrol. Huk winning everything at the end and becoming the most evil genius. Best of luck to everyone though.

I feel these predictions are accurate.

Although I feel incontrol and idra have a chance in their matches, and incontrol especially seems to have improved significantly of late.

Yes Mr.31 posts, Idra will win this ezpz.....

Bt seriously I am excited to see all of these games, and EG does such a good job at publishing content, there will be some funny videos of the (Z)Machine (P)iNcontroL games because they are sitting 5 feet from eachother.

I really really hope these are played and casted live. Geoff wouldn't let something like pre-recorded showmatches happen would he? Would be really awesome if EG could kick it up another notch and have player cameras and possible pre and post game interviews with video!

Idra has a habit of preemptively GGing (prematurely egrackulating) both in showmatches and against huk, doesn't bode well.

3.4.12? That is a lot of hype for a match that is next month!

Seriously, if you go all the way to make a sponsored thread, you can at least make it so the title is unambiguous (or I could say "comprehensible to non-americans").

Who cares, only Huk belongs in the conversation of good SC2 players out of the whole EG team.

The giant letters that say march 4th @ 4PM EST in the giant picture in the OP make it pretty obvious. idra vs huk should be a good match, a semi-friendly rivalry, machine vs incontrol will be, well, cannons DT's and 3 base turtle deathballs.

Are there any prizes or anything on the line? If not I wonder how serious the games will be. Idra vs huk sounds cool and will be hyped, but honestly, anyone watching incontrol's stream consistently probably watches him practice with and against machine so frequently. If its just another game to both of them, I don't find it that exciting. All that being said, props to eg for putting out some nice content for us viewers

Idra play style is stuck in 2011, Huk will own that match 3-1.... Id say machine n Incontrol are pretty even, i think Incontrol hides or does alot of dmg with some Dt's n wins that one 3-2

I don't get it.
Today is 3.4.12 (month/day/year - American format).
And even though this American team wrote 3.4.12 in this thread in an American forum, they actually mean 4.3.12 (day/month/year - European format)?

...whatever... I'll just look at the sidebar (upcoming events) to see what's when on, as that's the only source where one actually knows when something is going to air. All other sources use several and switch between date formats, time zones and daylight saving times which makes it one hell of a guess game.

I think this will be good for EG and good for Idra especially. He has been looking quite fragile lately. Not a fan but still rooting for the underdog.

IdrA is more skilled overall than HuK is but IdrA has a mental block vs Protoss and he will lose to HuK cuz of it. IdrA doesn't live up to his skill level / how much he trains because of his attitude / mindset.

The Machine vs Incontrol series will be good, whoever wins will prolly do so in 5.

I find the day preceding the month (rather than month/day/year) quite strange, but only because dates are usually stated verbally in language as such, at least in North America. For instance: September 11th (9/11) vs. people calling it the "11th of September" (11/9). Or if someone asks a birthday, I don't recall ever being told, "my birthday is the 5th of March, 1984."

I digress.

And on topic, matches should be interesting. Not a huge fan of EG, but I'll try to tune in nonetheless.

nice showmatch, i think incontrol has a chance to win, even tho machine is looking stronger lately.

btw, even americans know the day/month/year... 4th july? and the americans know that, thats why they usually write 'march 4th' instead of 3.4.
lets just agree that, except the US, no other country uses month/day/year, and that day/month/year is used in the EU, most of asia, south america, australia and parts of africa.

anyway TL wont change US timesystems, so lets just hope for some nice matches today.

I'm curious as to the 'prizes' that we can win? what prizes? how?

Nonetheless, I'll try and tune in, but if I'm correct, it'll be 6am here in Korea when that starts.

As per the date/month confusion...read the fucking OP...it says right in the middle MARCH 4th @ 4:00PM EST

This thread is not for discussing which order should be used anyway. geez...

for the post above, here in korea they use year/month/day...just fyi

Top 30 would be a damn bold statement, people easily forget how close the sc2 competitive scene is, when someone gets out of shape, they can get from top 10 to top 50 in less than 3 months... and I think incontrol would be the first to say so. No need for over hyping popular and charismatic players, lets just not kill them while they're getting back on track is all, show them support if you're a fan, but I see so many fans of various pros going crazy and just making idiotic statements, even if I cant possibly believe that this one was serious, incontrol top 3 protoss man, if it aint a troll I really dont know what to say :D

I think HuK>IdrA pretty easily unless Idra has had some weird change of heart about ZvP.

I think incontrol>Machine but it's closer. I can predict there will be plenty of cannons at Machine's natural

Idra's match will almost entirely be determined by whether or not idra can play zvp now. There's no reason to believe he can, really, so it seems like it'll be a walkover for huk just based on the matchup. I kinda hope Idra does show he finally can beat toss, but I don't expect it to happen.

Incontrol seems to be the kind of player who benefits exponentially from being able to study and prepare for an opponent. For example, there was that showmatch where he was scheduled to play dimaga, but played ret instead and got roflstomped. Then he played dima immediately after and lost 3-2 (I think). I feel he prepares well for opponents, so obviously he'll be well prepared against someone who he plays regularly. Also, I'd place dimaga's zvp above machine's even though it's weird (and both are obv. way below ret), so it's not hard to believe that Inc can turn 2-3 dimaga into 3-2 or 3-1 machine.

<3 EG for the Euro-friendly time!

Yeah, you didn't post it in GST, but then again - neither did any of the whiners... until now. Behold, sharing data on the internet instead of randomly being a dick to others

4PM EST

10 PM GMT+1 (continental western and center EU) (22:00)

9 PM GMT (the sailors) (21:00)

11 PM GMT +2 - SA and most of eastern Europe. Wave to Egypt!

Midnight - seriously, Belarus?

And for our Russian friends - it starts at 1 AM of 5th, so bring coffee to work the next day!

Idra's ZvP is pretty decent to be honest. He almost took down Oz, and Oz is like top5 protoss isn't he? That's judging from 1 series though, so maybe he just had a moment of shining and it won't happen again. I don't think that's the case though

Hopefully it's going to be good matches :D

Ballsy question. Exact schedule of matches can be found here:
http://mostevil.evilgeniuses.net/Tournament/Schedule/All_time/

And if you need converting those to other timezone, check out:
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meeting.html

(select LA to convert from PST as Location 1, and a city in your state/country/timezone as Location 2).

I hope we've scratched that itch.

PS.: To all others - or possibly, idk, look at the previous page to see at what hour it starts in different timezones. Though I'm sure it'll pop up again on page 8, and 9 and 10...

Looks good, and is in a decent time, I might just tune in to watch this. Also I like the pairing of Machine vs Incontrol, I feel that's gonna be the more interesting match.

This could ave been a nice series but you are right..Idra doesnt take these matches seriously, and with nothing on the line but clan internal bragging rights not sure his match with Huk will be anything more than a gimmick...still probably watch though as I am keen to see Incontrol v Machine. Tier 2 players but they do an awful lot of commentary on their streams and are knowledgable even if they have weaker (relatively) mechanics.

They play in a EG tournament. It doesn't matter what they want, they have to deliver their best. Why would Idra even do a promotion video for this tournament if he didn't care?

you coud have said same when Idra was playing the NASL showmatch...all his matches he is representing EG and he didnt give a damn about that. Yes this is closer to home and I am sure it will be controlled so it at least gives appearance of competitition but it wont be...thats my opinion only of course.

seems like a fun in house competition, but I would probably not want to do it in tournament season where specific builds will be seen in a bo5 format, seems like a better move early January. I won't be watching because I just don't specifically care about these players, but I'd love to see more in house practice sessions for other teams (like liquid), though the giveaways are unnecessary.

HuK easy, although everyone in EG has been in a slump lately (IdrA especially) HuK is really the only competent foreigner in this show match.

That said i expect IdrA to defend his title as the bad ass of EG

Can't wait for this match, should be interesting as long as all players take the games a little bit seriously.

Will this be streamed on JTV or Own3d?

I can only watch games on Own3d... QQ =[

Watching Idra's Stream, he has beat HuK more than a fare share of times recently. So this match could be good. HuK is nowhere near Oz's level, if Idra can duplicate how well he played vs Oz he should win. But it's Protoss, so Idra may have lost before the match even began because of his mental issues vs Protoss.

Idk why people are saying HuK has it easy. He has 0 results so far in recent months. His MLG performance was against terrible players for the most part.

Lastly, Machine>Inc. Hope for 2 good sets though

If Idra is in a good mood maybe he can win versus hulk then Incontrol/Machine are a "walkover" for both Idra/Huk.

I, for one, am excited to see if Idra's ZvP was awesome only for that series against Oz. If his decision making has been upped just a tad from that, then the matches against Huk are going to be great ;o

More preferable than ZvZ and PvP

Besides, we get Idra vs Huk, and Idra v Machine or Incontrol v Huk would be kind of a onesided steamroll (or should be, at least)

Often to great frustration for the viewers and the players. As I said, on paper, they are really one-sided

The EG website says the stream is at 3:00PM PST, which would make it 6:00PM EST - maybe they don't know time zones.

That broadcast thing rolled over when 1pm PST hit.

Do they NOT want us to watch these matches?

That seems to indicate that the broadcast is in two hours (obviously contradicting the OP which says it should be starting now)

Pretty sure that is talking about Machine vs. Incontrol, which is after Huk vs. Idra

Sunday, 04th of March 03:00 PM PST <--that's incontrol vs machine

idra vs huk has already starated (earlier it was Sunday, 04th of March 01:00 PM PST, indicating huk vs idra)

edit: there's a stream now

The facebook post says:

"Tune in at OneMoreGame.tv!"

So.. let's try that.

Edit: But obviously it'll be on orb's stream? Well whatever... GO IdrA!

IdrA v HuK was moved to History tab as to indicate that it's taking place and one can no longer make predictions.

Day 1
Night has fallen, but I still have not found a stream.
As I ventured farther in, I encountered brave ThomasR, who pointed me towards it.

THX!

Tea brewed, snacks near, supper ready and at hand.

They get the title of Most Evil Genius - a lot more important than any amount of money, obviously

The stream also got moved to OneMoreGame - some issues for the very first broadcast are not too surprising!

actualy pretty boring IdrA-Huk... Both players playing friendly boring games that they would never play like this in the tournaments. Some decisions are right from diamond league... I wanted interesting games where these realy good and very high level players play when there's money on the table. Looks like they're both not interested in these matches themselfs....

other tourneys also having bad maps and being slow to change them is no excuse for a showmatch league having a version of a map that every other (slow, and bad..) league has removed.. so saying this league is MORE bad than others but still the others were bad, is not a good argument.

Look we are all good. I don't hate cyto at all. Play to win? Sure I get that. Was angering in the heat of battle to find out a league was shit and a player was arguing to make the shit happen. But life goes on.

This isn't the Blizzard version though - pretty sure they played on the NASL version which at least has rocks at the gold.
This was played on Korea - so it's possible the required maps were missing, and it doesn't look like the players knew everything they should have known - they didn't seem to know if it was bo5 or bo7.

Not the mic actually - pop screen. Or just make one for 50c:
You need some pantyhose, and either a hanger or pipe clams from hardware store.

Yep, we'll fix the sound by next Sunday's matches. The production should be smoother next week as well. Orb's computer had not been set up in the way it will be next week which should allow him to transition between overlays and some of the assets more easily. Sorry about it today! I hope you enjoyed it overall.

The banter takes away from their professionalism IMO. I mean, they openly complain about having to play games as if it's a chore to them.

But either way, there were a few decent games.

and also HuK's worst matchup is PvZ and IdrA's is ZvP, so theres some funny stuff there

Huk > Idra > Machine = Incontrol

Huk wins.

Idra was on fire for a while last year and since then i've only seen him get rolled. Hope he comes back, wins some games, doesn't gg, and qq's. XD

you realise IdrA WON todays game?

i dunno about them being months old, there all in the EG house aside from IdrA and HuK who do more travelling so scheduling shouldnt be a problem i wouldnt be surprised if there game was only a few days old i could see IdrA VS HuK being a week or two before winter arena

That's incorrect - those games were 2.5 weeks old. HuK says he hopes he'll do well in NY (since the games were just before MLG Arena) and even mentions the "u 6 poll" comment from aLive which is quite recent.
(The Machine vs iNcontroL games were older - ~ 6 weeks)

Really great play from IdrA! Yea, it's a little wonky since it's both of their weakest match-ups, but they were fun games to watch.

I really like orb's casting. I think he is a bit underrated as caster maybe and I want to see him more casting!! Backing up what he says, analytical commentating and is also able to hype me up too!

While Orb might not be as repetitive (cuz u dont hear him cast so often) as for example Tastosis i do find his analysis so off oftentimes... unlike Tastosis. For example on the Daybreak game of Huk vs Idra he set his mind on Huk being so far behind and from that point he started making one after another analysis mistake... my head almost blew up when he did a mistake in analysis in every second sentence after the point where idra got "so far ahead" instead of changing his mindset and focusing on how the game was actually further developing.

Orb is a very irritating caster. His voice grates on the listener. However, his analysis is, for the most part, pretty good, and although he hypes up unnecessarily, it is good to hear casters get excited unlike some (JP...) who remain monotonous the whole time.

As for the games, the Idra vs Huk series was very entertaining, the conversation between the two of them was a good laugh and the play wasn't too boring. Machine vs InControl was certainly interesting... though the difference in skill between them and Idra and Huk became really apparent when watching the series one after the other. Still, a good watch, props EG. Hopefully we'll see DeMuslim vs LzGamer and Puma vs JYP soon!

While Wochtulka might be right, I still think that Orb is a really good caster that can analyze the game as well as transport excitement to an audience. Making false predictions is actually something that many casters do. Once one has made such a prediction and even announced it aloud it will be harder to realize when the development of the game takes a different direction due to selective information processing (for example). That is not to say that one could not work on improving in such an area, I am just saying that it is a pretty normal thing to do.
Alternative strategies would be to admit that one was wrong which I would imagine to be more difficult if one is casting alone (vs. a duo) or not make predictions at all and just describing the game. But IMO the latter would result in quite shallow casting.
I don't mind if casters try to make predictions even when wrong. Such predictions guide attention to details which would otherwise not even be perceived, especially by a lay-person. Day9 does that aspect really well (describing how the game could unfold or will unfold from a certain point on and why).

I was really impressed with Orb's ability to solo-cast, which most people don't seem to realize is pretty challenging as a caster. I mean you don't have anyone to banter back and forth with. It is a lot more difficult to fill in the opening of a game. It's a lot more difficult to keep your energy up without someone to draw from. I'm happy with the set up so far.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the friendly/light-hearted spirit that the players kept in the matches. It was all about the fun of it and doing something for the fans, which is a great attitude to have.

I actually like him, especially over some others that cast in the very same tournament. He doesnt grate on "the listener", he grates on you. There is a difference...

+1 on the analysis part though, he is obviously a very good player when he picks out certain things like that. I occasionally learn a thing or two from him as well, which is also a bonus for watching him.

Not really. Maybe read his post again and try to actually understand it. Saying that Orb is a great caster for X reasons is obviously a contribution to this forum, derogative remarks about the EG team as a whole does not belong here and neither do unfounded one-liner garbage opinions spewed randomly across the board.

If you have any relevant critique you are always free to voice your opinion. It's common sense.

Cuz mod banned him, Not really, you actually could, only one of those pisses anyone off though, I agree. In case those didn't cover something:

This is TL forum, not /b/ or reddit. We're here thanks to courtesy of TL, they are our hosts. If my host tells me not to bad mouth KKK, I might choose to gtfo, or stay - but stfu.
It's a bit odd to ban people for being cheery, though they may get a warning that they inflate topic unnecessarily (this is actually a policy ie on NationStates official forums). But if you pop in to state a simple opinion, AND the only thing it can possibly achieve is irritate people - there's no "kicking a puppy" factor that would stop mods from tempbanning your spamming, derailing ass.

^Constructive? Maybe. Bannable? Kinda.

edit:
Oh, and more to the point: http://mostevil.evilgeniuses.net/Tournament/Standings/
Standings have been added, and although results have not been updated, I assume they will be today, as the feature was totally blank yesterday.

Friday Bump!

VODs are available on BG site, and voting is enabled, VOD page is spoiler free (fake games).

Timetable:

Idrajit vs iNcontrol:
Sunday 11th:
1 PM PST
9 PM / 21:00 GST (London)
10PM / 22:00 GST+1 (western and central Europe)
11PM / 23:00 GST+2 (eastern Europe and South Africa)
Midnight for Belarus. Problem?
1AM 01:00 for western Russia. Remember the VODs will be up on Twitch first.

IdrA mirror matchup vs DoppelgangerMachine 2h later than the times above:
3 PM PST
11 PM / 23:00 GST (London)
12PM / 24:00/00:00 GST+1 (western and central Europe)
1 AM / 01:00 GST+2 (eastern Europe and South Africa)
2 AM for Belarus, haters gonna hate.
3 AM 03:00 for western Russia.

Remember these are cast from replays, not live - so it's not as if if Machine wins it's against Idra playing 4h straight.

I must say that I am very impressed with Idra's play in his matches vs Huk. It's good to see that his mechanics are still godlike and he still can abuse the game just as well as he could a year ago. Let's just hope he can make some good tournament decisions.

FYI, since Orb was sacked for taking a... silly risk (^^), matches will be cast by djWHEAT.

I'd say get iNcontrol to do it, but I'd prefer him playing as well as he did in those last games( Maybe with a different PvZ opening ;-) ), so maybe that'd be an unnecesary distraction.

edit:

And what's up with time of start on TL? Was it moved? I doublechecked the conversions I made, and if original timetable is valid, they should start in 1 not 3 hours.
Found it - starts at 3PM
I'll still try and catch some Idra vs iNcontrol live.
