if you are using windows7 "homegroup" really slows down a computer plugged into a network like the office if its not configured correctly/disabled like it should be cause its useless if you have a normal office network.
ultimately you should just run task manager and watch memory usage before and after docking it to see whats changed. then eradicate the culprit with extreme prejudice.
also try someone elses docking station cause most likely its your dock causing the problem.
