While most people kinda know what I do, the bigger jist of the job besides working at stupid hours is the fact that we field calls from the customer whenever they have an issue with some of the tolling equipment. Normally it's not too busy, but when something or somethings blow up like they tend to do it can take some doing and get quite busy. When this happens I actually field the calls and help out. Helping out requires that I sit at the desk with everyone else rather than in my office so naturally it does doesnt cross my mind that my picture texts go straight to the front of my OPO. We will get to why that's important later. So it's 1700 and this drive i complained about earlier still isnt finished because the new guy is being lazy about it (strike 1) so I leave my phone at the desk and walk over to assist him. The phone is just ringing off the hook at this point, the customer is calling and emailing asking for updates. The plaza personel are trying to figure out why their logins arent working and were asking them to relax and be patient and people are complaining because they want to go home because this is the last thing they do for the day. I hear my phone buzz and just continue walking the newbie through how this drive is imaged, what it needs to do, why he should have done it sooner. Answering the phone with the wireless headset that we have if i hear mine start to ring. Little to my knowledge that this particular headset isn't working because its been in use all day so now there's 5 people on hold. The old guy at the desk (whos now being reamed by some manager at a plaza) has a tendency to get angry when pushed is now FURIOUSLY rubbing his hands together which signals hes about to pop a blood vessel. Around this time, someone who's leaving the office off handedly says "Someone going to answer the phone?" which just causes the old man to lose his collective shit. He hangs up on the customer. Throws this 300 Dollar headset across the room, starts ripping his paper notes into pieces. All the while i'm trying to calm him down, "Just relax we can work on this, I'll answer the phones we can..." When he just goes off as loud as possible at me. "What do you know about working? You spent 1 year here and get you're own office, I've been here for 10 years and I'm still riding the fucking desk over here. Maybe I should do what you do all day you little shit, Sexting and facebooking and just... Fuck this i'm out." And walks out the door. Now if you didn't catch that last part he did mention sexting, remember when I said I wasn't actually paying attention to my phone? Turns out my Ex decided to send an unsolicited image with the caption of "Miss me yet" to my phone while I was at work. Which normally probably isn't the worse thing in the world aside from her being a vindictive little bastard. The problem of course now lies with the fact that this old man who has now left the center with 5 people on the line has yelled to the rest of the people in the office that I'm sexting at work. Which while not entierly untrue isn't the correct phrase I would use to describe this. Of course not giving a flying shit about what just happened because I'm not thinking about it, I begin to fix all the holes that weren't getting fixed anyway. 2 Hours later everything is finally being drove out to where it needs to go, I get surprised by my boss showing up to work in her baseball gear because she got a complaint about someone "sexting" at work. An hour later after getting reamed by my boss, I finally get to explain the whole situation which culminates in me very likely losing my ability to keep a phone in the office at all other than my work one as a "precaution". Add in the fact that the old dude (who likely quit, he hasn't responded to anyones calls yet) is my "shadow" on the schedule so I'm likely to be working until idiot junior can figure out how to actually get his shit together and work. Today sucked.

Jesus christ I feel old. My nephew who I'm really close to, asking me all these questions about what HS is going to be like, right after sweating my ass off for his Catholic Middle School graduation. I swear the kid was 10 years old a year ago. Also, building my first own computer from scratch. Wish me luck.... It sounded previously like you had a couple of jobs that were lined up and you were considering them, why not move? Also your boss sucks. I don't get how you having a phone there caused any of the issues mentioned above. I suppose its my perspective. I know that most of what I do around the office gets unnoticed or is just pass off pieces of jobs people dont want, but the main reason I stay here is job security. I know what projects are coming in the state of Texas and for the most part the greater New York area. So long as I don't actually start to "whistleblow" govenment secrets I'm pretty sure I couldn't lose this job unless I wanted to. Which is actually a nice feeling right now. The down side comes in the fact that I really dislike genuinely everything else about this job, from where I live, to the people I work with. My end goal is to just finish this current Project, which runs till about October. After that I'm likely to look else where, but I still need things on my Resume at this point. This is the first job i've had outside of working Fast Food/Arcade that I've had and I had to bust all kinds of ass to get it. Plus with the amount of people I work with who don't know how to politics, it's pretty easy to pull my way to the top like I've been doing.

Well bb, if I read your posts correctly, you do a lot of IT and server architecture stuff (correct me if I'm wrong). I could get you an interview at my company, especially if you're willing to move north. On the other hand, they also have 4 locations in TX. It's pretty great imo. Just throwing it out there.
