Shit sucks. Having to let go of a pet like that sucks. Best thing you can do is focus on the fact that you made his last couple years better than they would have been.

Isn't it the same? Even unreasonable people use reason, or at least attempt to.
I can empathize with falling into that trap, and seeing the reasons behind it is think helps to ensure that I'm less likely to. At least I hope so anyway.
I also think that makes it easier to make people question their world view than to just wace your hand and call people racist or bigotted.
Frequently I think we confuse racist behavior or beliefs with the person being racist; I think that pits people on the defensive and eliminates potentially enkightening discussion. It's also fallacious in nature because I find a lot of the time there isn't hatred but simply a misunderstanding. And when you shame / embarress people and eliminate discussion I think it's easy for that initial ignorance to become bigotry.a

I will. I have a lot of fond memories. The first summer he learned to graze the blueberries in my garden, it was a competition to find the ripe ones first, his idea of the perfect snack was appearently berries. His beloved shrubbery will be his final resting place when I get his urn tomorrow.

Bawled my eyes out while reading the article, but in the good way, it's so true. I've had two dogs before and watching all their stages puppy-adult-old you cannot help but think they in a sense get more wise and eventually realize the concept of time more and more and accept the inevitable as they age towards the end.
Had a similar experience to Harry and the frisbee this monday. At the local park the last 2 years he used to join in when the local kids played football they adored him as was he their own, he was one hell of a defensive mid not too keen on passing the ball tho. This year's first football game he was just laying at the sidelines wagging his tail while calmly watching them. Couldn't help but think he was laying there thinking "I taught them well", I know owners often humanize their dogs too much but I couldn't help think it.
So I started listening to Destiny vs Thooorin earlier today, but I can't get past Thooorin's abysmal argument style. If someone else listens, can they give me a rundown? I honestly can't handle Thooorin interacting with other people like this.
Oh my god he keeps interrupting Destiny and yelling this is terribleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
It all comes down to this: Thorin argues that people stating opinions are discussion. Destiny argues that you need to have a common base for your arguments to have a proper discussion.
I refuse to listen to people argue unless they have philosophy degrees or are named Stephen fry (although I don't know if he ever does debates I just like his style). its made my life infinitely better.
if you want to lose faith in Humanity go to any video of Saxon's crusader and the comments are all about how people want to go start a holy war and drive the Muslims back out of their land etc etc etc.
Why do people care about destiny all of a sudden? He isn't a great debater or anything yet I see people with actual fanbases go on his stream to debate.
He's never been particularly good at games, and he rages like a motherfucker, but he's occasionally funny and in general seems like a pretty reasonably intelligent and sensible guy.

Hi friends. It's been a long time. Since we last talked I had a daughter (coming up on 4 months old now!), started a new job as control engineer programming PLCs, and just got an offer accepted on a house!
