The OW thing is pretty sad. I don't really get the culture out there around pop culture figures. K-pop\J-pop basically prostitutes out their idols but that's alright as long as the illusion of purity is put forth. That's not to say the culture "here" is any better though, Agent Orange is basically worshiped as a god while the guy that laughed at his pussy joke got fired from his job. Just unreal that tiny teenage drama ends in such a way.

Appearently there's much more evidence she's going to use in court.

What's the best thing anyone could do in their life (or abstain from doing)? And the worst. Why?

I want to change that, even if it's just for me. Worst? Die before my parents do. In my post suicidal stage of my life, along with other things I've witnessed, one of the worst things that can happen in life is having to bury your own child.

This was the most emotional scene in LOTR for me.

obviously stealing 5 bucks from someone is not as bad as a child raping spree so there is a spectrum but i guess, doing the best you can to help others vs doing the best you can to hurt others? whats your answer duvon?

I have a pretty utilitarian outlook on a lot of things (goal is maximising of utility - like, children will give a lot of utility in the future which might get reduced from the trauma, and already at present give utility to the ones who love them, so it's obviously right to stop the rape spree). But things like saving malformed beings at huge costs, "MOTHERLAND" things and social justice / "toughen up son" stuff are hard.

I imagine most people would consider more so the quality of life for everyone involved. The whole nationalist thing can be annoying too but i think its downfalls are more on a global scale because people cut foreign aid and people starve to death while very wealthy countries "waste" money. Social justice is generally considered a good thing tho? unless you are talking about the "warriors" that are pushing their agendas beyond helping people. When i say social justice is generally good i mean equal opportunity.

Do you value traditional values like relationship with gods, cultivation of virtues or justice, or do you think they all (or some of them) get trumped by utility? The word utility is used to give a name to something diverse. Can be happiness, survivability, etc, each person can decide. I think happiness is a pretty good target. Mostly it's a parameter to measure the result of an action - did it give +utility or -utility. But that also makes it hard, since one of the things to consider is how all the actions through a lifetime and all the happiness forever after an action is taken end up. It's one of the things I'm contemplating on - am I too focused on the current happiness? With the world as unstable as it is currently, I can sometimes feel that the survival of mankind, or heck even life on this planet, is a superior goal to maximizing happiness. Social justice is generally considered a good thing tho? unless you are talking about the "warriors" that are pushing their agendas beyond helping people. When i say social justice is generally good i mean equal opportunity. The social justice/toughen up son is the easiest one to talk about, so I'll start there. Why should we have equal opportunity? Sure it diversifies the market and hinders short term stagnation, but at the same time I'm afraid that it will lead to a complacent and dull majority. But if it's a happy majority I shouldn't care right? Part of the reason I'm thinking about this is that I'm about to start a survey for ADD for myself. A diagnosis would give me (unfair?) advantages. Maybe. I guess this also ties in to fascism - is everyone equal? I certainly don't think so. Should everyone be equal? I don't know! Should humanity push into a world war to separate the wheat from the chaff? If it would increase humanities long term well being by forcing people to adapt, become stronger or die. The malformed thing is a very wide issue - not only fetuses viability for the future, but also things like World's Ugliest Dog, or even softer stuff like allowing infertile people to reproduce with modern technology. Idunnoit'sHARD. Most of the time, I think humanity should try to accept their differences and live more like Arne Naess teaches, in small communities without explotiation to nature or anyone in it, while focusing on self-realization. But how can anyone do that, when the political climate is as it is? Edit. time runs and I have to go to bed. Ethics and morality is interesting.
