Not everyone is going to be in a position to be able to do something like that, and hopefully it's the first of quite a few like it. You've already made a name for yourself in the budding scene, so hopefully there will be other opportunities.
That's an incredibly tough decision man, and for what it's worth, I think you made the right one.

10 minutes to work. Would prob. take much longer on bus because I'd have to either walk a good third of the distance, or make a connection and I'm not sure where it'd be possible.
Never considered biking; my city has public bikes but I don't think the network goes that far. On the other hand, even tho it's cold and slightly uphill I wouldn't need that 7-8 minutes more just to unfreeze the windscreen each morning.

I support your decision Cixah, probably the wisest option but yeah that sucks you had to choose.
I got up early to get some HS games since I don't have time in the evenings this week and totally forgot Tuesday mornings + Blizzard = maintenance >.>
Also, both my real jobs so far have been ten minute commutes. You city slickers can suck it! ^^

Nah most (if not all?) of the hearthstone tourneys are just online events, which wouldn't require that much if any vacation time. Sucks to turn down all expenses paid foreign travel though!

I think the only reason why I don't like snow is because it makes it harder to bike.

I love snow but only during the 2 weeks of holidays i dont have attend school at the end of december. In jan and feb it only leads to delays for my trains fuck that.
