In fact the correlation is negative; in America the more money a geographic area spends per capita on healthcare, the shittier the population health is and the lower quality of care they get (controlled for demographic factors like income, obesity, etc).

Northern European countries have the best system imo. At least in Sweden, massive taxes but the state pays for healthcare and support for poor people and stuffs like that. Then again, NE has it so easy with low population density and headstart on basically everything in Sweden (close-to neutrality in WW2 really helped them jumpstart everything) and all the damned oil that Norway has. Would be probably hard to do for all the poorer nations.
Seriously, Norway. So rich it doesn't know what to spend money on, they just build up massive savings. Which other nation can boast that they have no national debt?

I also get taxed high enough that I'd rather not subsidize someone else's free healthcare with my tax money and furthermore lose my preferential treatment. Call me selfish, classist, or whatever; don't really care in this regard.

I'm just a poor recent college grad. So obviously free healthcare would be best for me.

Alright guys, how does Mafia work or anything like that I see it's on the frontpage of twitch and it's bunch of people discussing whom they should kill depending on who said what in the previous discussions about whom to kill. Wtf? O.o I would have thought that such a game would involve a lot more math and probability discussions but no one has mentioned anything like that even once.

Wiki link to Mafia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mafia_(party_game)
The game is played so that there are a certain amount of mafia and the rest of the group has to figure out who is a mafia member and kick them off the island through voting.
The Mafia kills off one person during the night phase, they're the only ones allowed to open their eyes during this. There are one or more cops that can deduce the identity of one person per night phase.
Then in the morning, the game master kills off the person the Mafia chose to kill. The citizens then debate and vote to kick one person out of the town. If they manage to kick off all the Mafia, they win.

disagree its rly easy to play mafia with math involved, and in some cases its optimal to do so.
i mean it's more logic than math but you can certainly involve math.

If you have to calculate your chances of 'hitting' a scum member in a pool of X players or what the possible outcomes of a game are X cycles from a point in time.
Check out the subforum imo. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/index.php?show_part=31

When I lived in India, I caught Meningitis. I took a taxi to the hospital and got excellent quality care with no wait time for free, was there for about a day, and only paid about 5$ for the pills that they put me on after sending me home. In India, where one billion people live without things like regular electricity and fresh water.
After I left India, came back to the US and graduated college, I was denied health insurance altogether because of a medical issue I had when I was 8 years old that hasn't been a problem since I was about 10 years old. I've since injured my knee twice and been unable to go to a doctor at all. My knee still hurts from time to time, I can't afford to even find out what's wrong with it.
Anybody who thinks American healthcare is anything other than completely terrible has never lived in another country and has no idea what they're talking about.
And if you don't think your tax money is currently subsidizing other peoples healthcare, you don't know how the American healthcare system works either. Your tax money very much does pay for other peoples healthcare, the US government spends more money per person on healthcare than any other country in the world. The system is just so incredibly bad that those other people don't actually get healthcare for it.
