(I mainly play SC2, LoL, minecraft (uses a lot of ram), project zomboid, and a bunch of other steam games atm, but obviously that changes often) Just want to see your opinion on things and consider some of my options. What is budget? and where are you from (if fry's or micro center is near you)

I already have a friend who is willing to help build it with me and will set me up. I just was looking for opinions on what some people thought would be better (ram-wise, memory, graphic card, etc) as he doesn't play the games we do lol (console gamer) 2x4gb 1600 ddr3 ram should be good enough. for 1k system, could afford small ssd. Uhm, new gen of AMD gpu's came out, so price drops for 7000 series should be incoming. uhhh, haven't kept up with cpu's, but amd cpus are great power/price performance.

(Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-11-10 02:36 EST-0500) Various things that could be changed/added. 1. additional harddrive is probably necessary. 1tb is pretty cheap now, probably only 80 bucks? 2. has room to switch to intel equivalent motherboard + cpu, instead of amd. 3. nvidia's pricepoint equivalent of 7970 is the 770 gtx, so check that out too, if you're a nvidia fanboi. 4. this does not include monitor/keyboard/mouse. Depending on where you live, you can easily craigslist a 1920x1080 monitor for 100 bucks or less (i just got a dell ips panel 1920 x 1080, for 75 bucks a couple weeks ago). 5. if you want to oc, i highly suggest switching out the cpu fan I selected with corsair h100. (also, I find ocing intel cpu's easier than amd, if you do want to oc, make sure motherboard supports it).

Should be easily rated for that amount. If you are worried about wattage though. Corsair does offer cx600m, for around the same price.

I have my own monitor, mouse, and keyboard already. I've always had Intel CPU's, although I know people who use AMD and find it fine. Depends on how big of a price difference I'm able to get it for.

Also, this build should easily let you run any AAA title at near max setting for everything at 1920x1080 resolution. Also, also, if you can get the 280x, over the 7970, do it. They're essentially the same card, but the 280x is the newer gen release, so you're better off getting it. The price is the same, the problem is 280x has limited quantities due to new release.
