I'm not sure where the anime is in regards to the manga. Filler episodes are shit, that's all I remember.
There's actually a pretty decent part around the time where Naruto and Bee are training. Actually, Naruto himself has gotten quite a bit less annoying in the last ~50 chapters or so, but it's still not a great story.
