http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=426609 I think it's very reasonable to stay in LA for less than 50$ a day, that being for a hostel, food and a subway pass. If you want to do it cheaply most of the price is going to be the plane ticket and the tickets to the event. If you want to stay in a nice hotel and eat in restaurants you could easily be looking at 300$ a day, though. It really depends on what you're comfortable with. Can you sleep in a dorm room and eat McDonalds every day or not?

I also remember there being a lot of Filipinos for some reason. Still, I probably wouldn't venture to ktown very often for kbbq, because there's a lot of serviceable kbbq places in my area. I did go to Park's because it had a Michelin Star back when Michelin gave stars in LA and I thought it was just okay. There's also Soot Bull Jeep that I went to because they actually use charcoal, but it was kind of a mess cooking there because the only way to cool down the grill is with the cup of ice that they give you. That stuff is hardcore, lol. The only other kbbq place I've eaten at in downtown was a place called The Corner Place. Apparently it got good reviews, but I only ate there because I had friends who lived practically next door to it and recommended it to me.

I don't know how the change could be so big. Second week and it feels like more reading (for school) than I've ever had to do in a week. And it actually takes time to understand some stuff! I managed to get gold in LoL (getting that elise skin) and I probably won't be able to play for a long while anyways. I went from highschool math to proof math over a 2 month summer. Needless to say my butt's still sore from that one

The Americans I know who had a similar Highschool>Uni experience either came from weak High Schools or didn't take the hard classes in their school and tried to do Engineering/Physics. It was the same when I went to law school. The people who struggled came from weak-ass colleges and were Poly Sci majors.

Man I think Kant was one of the most difficult philosophers to understand in my Philosophy class. It's possible to do, but some of his work is way out there. Berkley (If I spelt that right) probably had some of the weirdest ideas as well, chief among them that everyone existed in god's mind. (I'm seriously skipping some details there, but that was the gist of it)

When I took psych classes, I found it easier to understand and remember the general system or structure and then try to fill in the blanks with details. So even if I forgot the name of "resistance and immersion" stage of the racial identity development model, I have some sense of what occurs during this stage. Memorization is also why I hated the unit on the brain.

(I'm seriously skipping some details there, but that was the gist of it) For the ethical philosophy of Kant this is pretty much all you have to read: http://www.amazon.com/Liberty-Incorporating-Four-Essays/dp/019924989X/ For his metaphysics, just read Spinoza and Aristotle Kant's views on epistemology are worthless and lead to why his political philosophy is also worthless so don't worry too much about it. If its actually a super in depth treatment of his axioms on analytic/synthetic possibility and the a priori/posteriori scheme then you better be really good at sudoku puzzles (pure logic).
