Ender's Game is a short book, but it's so jam-packed with key content that they really couldn't cut everything without making the movie complete dog crap. So they went through all of the characters, but they went really fast through everything. It wasn't perfect, but it was smarter to focus on Ender than everyone else. There needs to be no small amount of focus on Ender to make the ending have any impact, and there was no time for anything else. Cutting the movie into two parts woulld have solved the problem but probably pissed you off. As for Bean in the launch group, where else would you put him? If he was just placed in Dragon Army out of nowhere, he wouldn't even have time to get a line off. Alai showed a lot of significance as Ender's first friend, and I think even my sister, who had never read the books, caught the significance there. The kid who played Ender was pretty impressive honestly, Harrison Ford did a good job of constantly toeing the line between respect and hate for Graff, and given the expectations that I had going in, Ender's Game impressed me. I disagree strongly, because by rushing through and having a slideshow of characters, it completely removed any attachment. I didn't even get the feel of Alai being any significant friend to Ender - there was no sense of an actual connection between any of the characters besides Ender-Bonzo. I didn't have a problem with Bean being in the launch per se, it was just a jumping point for me to see why I felt it was off. The final reveal wasn't even dramatic, even for a new viewer :| You only feel that way because you read the book. I walked into the movie knowing nothing but the trailer and that it was a book. The only character that I didn't get was his relationship with his sister. Supposedly she's supposed to be the one person that he feels he can turn to, but I didn't pick up whether or not it was because of that or if there was anything special about her. I work for a Houston Company that has the contract for its toll roads. I was told as long as Houston has traffic, I'll have a job so sound like I'm set for life.

Or moving between friend's places constantly? :/ Sounds real rough either way. Georgia's a shitty place to be homeless too. Coyotes in all the rural areas and it can get below freezing just like the north in the winter. Nothing like Florida.

There was a good solid month where I slept in a few parks off Broughton street in Savannah. As for the toll road stuff, I'll be doing QA work. Like simulating what happens when 3 cars are "magically" 1 foot apart from each other as they go through the same booth. How would the camera's take the pictures of these plates, is the resolution on these pictures good enough to get a positive ID on "toll dodgers". Basically I try to make the people who sit in front of computers and catch offender's jobs easier. That and make sure the stuff actually works.
