And I don't know how the crap I missed this post but it's awesome: + Show Spoiler [Moonbear story] + On June 27 2014 10:03 MoonBear wrote: Marcus swam up the river, although it was a rough swim. Left paw right paw tail left paw right paw tail He swerved around the bend in the brook and passed by the dropping willow where the badgers lived. They often kept to themselves, but they caused no trouble in the neighbourhood. Good honest folk who worked hard to earn their keep. "A role model for us all," Marcus thought to himself. Left paw right paw tail left paw right paw tail Up ahead a blue chrysanthemum floated towards Marcus, drifting lazily as the current carried it away. Marcus stopped for a moment and leaned against a mossy rock in the middle of the stream and watched it approach him. The flower spun slowly as it bobbed lightly up and down with the water, although Marcus knew that its lazy gait belied the swift undercurrent that ran on the river bed. A second chrysanthemum, this one pink, came up from behind and bumped into the first. The two flowers circled each other as they continued to drift down the river towards Marcus, weaving their dance as though darting through invisible walls but always staying close to each other. But just before they reached him, the flowers split apart, their courting dance broken as the stream's undercurrents separated them. The pink flower passed by on the left, while the blue flower on the right. The cicadas were waking, and their chirping began to echo amongst the trees. Marcus tiled his head backwards, eyes closed and let the warm morning sun wash over his face. Soon the sound around him blurred and softened as he lay there, his muscles at rest. How carefree those flowers must have been, with nary a care in the world as they toured down the stream he thought. For a moment he felt a tinge of jealousy. How carefree they must have been. Yet, how helpless they were against the current of fate that pulled them on this journey. Together and apart. Marcus opened his eyes and sighed. Now was not the time to wandering head first through the clouds. No, he had something more important to attend to. Something he had been waiting for his entire life. His back paws pushed against the stone to propel him forward as he continued his journey upstream. Left paw right paw tail left paw right paw tail The cicadas had awoken a lot of other creatures, and hubbub in the forest slowly grew. Marcus didn't pay attention to any of this though, his front paws were clasped together pressed tightly against his chest as they had been since the last night. Past the fallen tree and around the bull reeds. Just around one more bend and he would be there. It would be worth it in the end Left paw right paw tail left paw right paw tail Marcus ducked through the burrow entrance and made his way to the centre of the den. Why did it seem to light up ahead? That wasn't right, why... The main quarters looked like a tornado had run riot, with half the roof ripped right off. Broken furniture lay strewn around the floor while debris and half eaten food had been trampled into the mud floor. For the first time, Marcus let his front paws drop from his chest and the pearl he had kept so close to his heart rolled away.... Clack ... only for a wooden staff to come down upon it and trap it against the floor. Marcus spun round and saw a grizzled Otter holding a wooden staff standing behind him. His left eye was covered with an eye patch while his right foot had been replaced with a wooden peg many moons ago. His face bore a scowl that looked like it could scrub a bathtub clean. "You want to get your girl back?" the stranger growled. Marcus stood there dumbstruck, and then slowly nodded. Anything. He would do anything. "Well pack your bags and come with me boy." "I'm going to show you how to be a Superior Otter."

All of the playing none of the work. After being both a player and a GM, I think being a GM has the potential to be more fun depending on the party you have. For example, for my group, all of the players will happily pick up anything I give them regardless of the consequences as it makes the game "more fun". Things they have picked up include, but are not limited to: + Show Spoiler + Pendant of Dark Knowledge: Gives the spell caster the ability to cast ANY first level spell from their first level spell slot, however they can only cast ONE spell that they can't normally cast. However, the wearer has a strong desire to learn. Every time the wearer is in the presence of books, they must make a Will Save of DC 18, or else they will attempt to read the book - regardless of the consequences. Each minute they spend reading the book, they can attempt another save. If the book is destroyed before reading it, the subject becomes depressed. That is, -2 to all rolls. This lasts for 12 hours. The Book of Blight: Reading this book gives the subject resistance to Necrotic damage. Also their skin takes on a more greyish tone. Also, the subject can add 1d4 Necrotic damage to all damage that they deal. However, the subject then takes double damage from Radiant damage types, and the user has a -2 penalty to perception checks, persuasion checks and athletic checks. Book vanishes on use. Shield of Thorns: Shield AC bonus is only +1 in this case, but attackers take 2 damage every time they miss a melee attack against the one using the shield, and the one using the shield takes 2 extra damage every time they get hit by a melee attack. The Pendant has really screwed with the spellcaster on more than one occasion.
