Sure it's performance isn't stellar but it's got boatloads of battery life coupled with a good screen. It's likely better than any laptop in it's ballpark which is on-the-go light workload with full day unplugged usage. edit:: probably best to add a disclaimer: I've never actually owned an Apple product in my life.

Yeah, but if you don't need above X in performance, but you can afford to spend enough money to buy Twice the value of X, the only thing left to spend the money on is looks. and social status is a thing. there was that chart everyone saw on the internet years ago about how many sexual partners different phone users have, iPhones had by far more than the better performance smart phones, because its a status symbol and social status is sexy.

Watches are a cosmetic accessory and should stay a cosmetic accessory. That said 'smart-watches' have been on the horizon for fucking ever now, and I suppose I'll have to accept it when they become far to convenient not to.

The price and the fact that they can sell it for that price is a testament to the fact that people can't get the same build quality from other vendors. Yes, a specialized computer with a lot of battery power probably won't come out because I don't think that's a product that every company would like to design/create. Especially not sloppy seconds after Apple has done it. The main draw is battery life, and in that category hats off they did a great job. For those specs at that price point depending on what you value their style to be worth to you, you are paying through the nose for every minute of battery life. For $1600 you can get a pretty sweet laptop, the shame would be having to plug it in every several hours. The horror.

But god damn does it get in the way when I'm doing computer shit (which is always). I see tons of people in the office with these damn Fitbit things. Where the hell did they come from? cali tech startup based on an calorie counting app that expanded its use over time, and then added the peripheries, and now the company is worth like 300 mil? IDK I think if you weren't wearing anything and just had a 5 million dollar watch on your wrist it'd still look pretty good.

I'm just not comfortable with your claim that it has the best "design" like how are you quantifying design? its small and light? this is the ideal laptop for people that only browse the internet and have more access to money than power outlets. but the fact that they can sell it for that price is only testament to their companies orientation toward providing what people are willing to pay for. "amazing" portable laptop is entirely subjective. the "good screen" is horrible overkill and practically reduntant. they should have gone with 1080p and saved even more battery life and boosted performance that they already have to compensate for with relatively lower cpu power and no gpu.
