And not movie Bilbo who was like a badass and fought Orcs, but book Bilbo who pissed himself most of the time and hid the rest.

There're just different stages to being drunk which all depend on the person. Personally I get the light happy buzz, the super happy high, the completely depressed drop and the black out ending. and not necessarily a linear progression through stages its more like a decision tree with multiple routes. blissfully dancing by myself is always in there for me tho. diarrhea posting is only one of many final stages that can be reached. Is that when you need to use the toilet but you aren't sure what end is going to erupt so you just lie there next to the toilet hoping you picked the right hole? no i meant like rapid voluminous but substanceless shit posting.

I meant it in the sense that Usopp didn't grow balls all of a sudden. He's got his moments and you can definitely see he improved, but he didn't acquire Luffy levels of not caring overnight. Also he's the comic-relief character so yeah obviously you have to deal with that too.

Well at least you spent it laying out a knowledge smackdown.

It's what I do.
On a more speculative subject, after writing that post I started wondering about the trajectory of MMOs. A huge part of what drove WoW's growth was the novelty of its nearly seamless online world (something almost utterly unheard of back in 2004) and the way it forced players to interact. With all of the quality of life changes Blizzard has made over the past decade that's essentially gone.
This is a problem because most new MMOs draw heavily from WoW, and players expect those quality of life changes even when playing a new MMO, but without replacement systems and mechanics that organically force players into situations where they want to befriend one another the MMO's potential growth is stunted.
Blizzard continues to implement more and better quality of life improvements for WoW, all of which exacerbate the problem. Essentially, there's very little difference between WoW today and a hypothetical game consisting entirely of raids/dungeons without a persistent world. That being the case, how long will this MMO archetype persist before it's eventually subverted and the persistent world (e.g. the part that was once considered the definitive trait of an MMO) disappears entirely?
|
Yeah, I'm being struck by the irony of a player wanting online friends but not seeking them out unless it's absolutely necessary. I think from a design standpoint it's very hard to make a persistent world "matter" beyond saving some loading times.
Also, can anyone help me? I accidentally saved an image to my windows/system32 folder but when I navigate to it in explorer the file isn't there. I have show hidden files and folders on. My image program can even see and open the dang thing. Is there a way that I can delete it?

I can see the file name in the image program and I'm good with navigating through the command prompt, I just haven't deleted anything there before. I guess I'll try that.

It's a social skills/personality thing to an extent. For some people the act of talking to another person unsolicited is difficult, and unless they are forced into it they'll rarely do it even when they're aware it's what they want to/should be doing.
I have that problem at Thursday board games club. I see people who look like they're having fun and I can't bring myself to poke my head in and say, "I see that you all are enjoying a board game, might I ask you all to interrupt your fun and play a completely different board game with me?"
I'll be heading home soon so if you don't have your windows problems sorted out by then I can try to help over vent.
