AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASo the Ender's Game movie reviews are rather mixed. Still gonna go see it this weekend but I'm still apprehensive. I know =) Is it coming out this week? I'm terrified to go see it... I know I have to, and I know it will probably be a good movie (Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, etc...), but I think they're gonna butcher the story, and that just kills me. Friday. I was so hyped for it when they announced it because I thought they could butcher it and I'd still be happy.... and then I saw WWZ and was physically ill afterwards.
Gavin Hood plz

i read ender's game on my flight from LA back home to colorado, and i don't really see how the movie could be bad? while the idea behind ender's game was pretty cool, it wasn't exactly complex (nor well-written!). it was a ton of space laser tag, followed by awesome ship battles. it's like *perfect* for a big-screen CGI-heavy action flick. honestly, my main fear is they delve too far into the brother/sister or even worse, alien-empathy portions of the book that were not particularly well-written anyway.

in my defense, i didn't know there were more books and i haven't read them yet, so they might redeem the clearly-interjected-just-before-final-print portions of ender's game (like, the entire final sequence). but this is one story where i feel like the movie has potential to be better than the book
relevant edit: i am at my aunt's house, with her miniature poodle sitting in my lap while i browse TL, and she has been licking my right bicep for a solid 10 minutes now. d-do i have cancer? :c

i read the book in one sitting. i was thoroughly taken in by it. the idea was captivating, the execution was mediocre.
and i'm a champion of retro and lo-fi indie games
