That's basically how I feel in reguards to any sort of religious "debate". In fact I feel that way mostly about any sort of debates at all. It's all just drama people didn't get out of their systems in high school. thats terrible how could one not be interested to challenge his own views, challenge the views of others, learn new perspectives and increase his understanding on issues via dialog with others? debates and discussions are perfect for this and especially discussions about religion can help to broaden one's mind.

The issue comes down to: this is the internet. This is one of the most civil religious discussions I've been part of, but let's be real, discussions on the internet rarely (if ever) change people's opinions. And in religious discussions, it always comes down to the same things brought up, and it becomes tiresome explaining the same things each time. Luckily, no one here employed any strawmen arguments, but that also happens often.
Civil discussions are great. Internet debates usually just grind on with neither side moving until it either peters out or turns into ad homenim.

2 posts above you comadose Well women had no rights during the time of the bible so cooincidentally the bible says that men have authority over women, similarly it's okay to stone people for adultery because thats what they did at the time the bible was written seems to be all the morals written in the bible were exactly those suitable for BC Jewish society. Christ tried to call bullshit on it and they rapped him for it, but the christians lived on and just went on Jesus' teaching of love and peace but decided to make up a load of stuff loosely based on the bible to try to link jesus with the old testament Anything that is a law in the Old Testament is no longer valid. Full stop. Any Christian hung up on laws from Deuteronomy or Leviticus or anything else are doing it wrong. When Jesus came, he fulfilled the old laws and laid down a new set of laws, hence the New Testament. You'll find many of the contradictions come from comparing the Old Testament to New. but like... it was valid back then? and there are more contradictions, like it starts with two stories about the same event that aren't the same. Right, the laws were designed for the time. They were valid in a time where they needed those strict laws because the people of that faith were a tribe wandering around the desert for a good portion of it. The laws of man change, and that's really what most of the Old Testament laws were. They took care of things like trade, ownership, stealing, all sorts of things that our government does nowadays. They were never intended to be the core of a religion. They were thrown out when the people of the faith had grown and no longer needed them. I don't know what other contradictions you're talking about unless you say what they are, but I'd gladly talk about them from my limited knowledge. I only have a very brief study in Apologetics. but is it the word of god? like he said having slaves and stoning women was what people needed at the time? a good example of a contradiction is like i said the first two stories in the bible. they are different creation stories. I'm not explicitly familiar with most of the Old Testament. From what I remember, though, most of the laws governing things like slaves and goods and all that controversial stuff was not uttered from the mouth of God, but rather the laws of the leaders and Pharisees. The laws of God were the 10 Commandments and what the Prophets said in his name. Much like the Church and churches of today have the laws of the faith, but also the rules of their religion (bad example, but closest I could think of). Since they were written by men, they were made for men of the time, who owned slaves, who didn't understand the ideas of equality, etc. As I said, many (but not all) of the stories in the Old Testament are taken to be allegorical. Just as Jesus spoke in Parables, so were many of the stories passed down orally if some of the bible isn't "the word of god" then i feel like the rest of it loses some credibility. does everyone get to pick and choose which parts are really gods wishes? do you accept everything from the new testament? and for contradictions how bout that mathew and luke disagree on who josephs father was, they also dated the birth of jesus about 10 years apart. but a common thing i hear is that the gospel writers were blessed with the holy spirit and god was writing through them.

From my experience, it's too low for f2p players. For example, those coinpurse drop you get from mobs increase in LP cost for identification the later you go. In some ways, it makes crafting much more important, but in other ways, it's frustratingly so because there's no way I can generate enough LP to upgrade by crafting/ keep up with the paying players.
also PX what server/name on archeage if you are still playing?

If nothing else, challenges to my points of view have prompted me to dive far more in depth about why I believe what I do. Mostly religious challenges but also some non-religious ones (e.g. a casino gambling argument I once had). The problem is that, since the discussions are about, well, important things, they take up a ton of time and it gets exhausting. Even in-person I've gotten to the point where I'm arguing in circles with people. Especially on the internet, and especially with the Bible, it's impossible to answer every person's quibble unless you make it more or less your job to do so. If I had more time I would totally do more of it despite the occasions where I'm literally just being google.

yeah, that's why I don't play mafia anymore - I love the arguments/discussions/debates, but it's VERY time consuming if I really want to be invested

I've never seen that specific contradiction before, I'd be interested in reading more about it though. After Guardians maybe.

It's only when things start getting personal that arguments become awful.

I'm not sure what you're so confused about here. The Bible is very specific about which things are decreed by God himself, as told by the prophets. Those are the parts that are 'the word of God.'
Even if you think of the Bible as a fictional story about a mythos, it should still be pretty clear that the God of this mythos is not in agreement with the laws of all of the kings and rulers of the lands. For example, Nebuchadnezzar II famously decrees after witnessing the power of God that anyone found denouncing or making accusations against him would be mutilated and have their homes destroyed. That is his law, not God's law. I'm not sure how that removes credibility(whatever that means to you with regards to the Bible and religion in general), since it is entirely logical and consistent.

From what I understand there is no real reason for the OLD Testament to be in the bible for Christianity. It's filled with contradictions to what is in the New Testament and is pretty vile honestly. From my understanding, the Old Testament is included to show the prophecies that were told about Christ and show his fulfillment of them. The rest is really just bookkeeping/storytelling. So what your saying is that Riot need to balance the Bible.

i mean to ask too to clarify that the bible is in fact the basis of the religion.

Welcome to the Bible Belt. Up here in the North, around where I live, we can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Catholic, but no one talks about religion much, I think. My parent's and their friend's are religious, but I'm not, I'm more a of a Deist/Agnostic. Something or someone is out there, but I don't really care that much about it.

If i'm able to make a 1000 labor point staff thats better than pretty much everything you can find, but i know that 1000 labor points costs me 17 hours of time in game to accrue, i can charge someone more for it. or if i'm able to build and furnish someones house for 2k labor points i can charge significant amounts of money, including real money currency. The labor system is okay for the most part, but there needs to be some tweaking to the system. I feel like there is a huge advantage for paying customers in terms of time/efficiency of LP usage. A free player in archeage will get 5 LP regen per 5 minutes online, and no labor regen while offline. LP regen for the patrons is 10 per 5 online and 5 per 5 offline. They can pretend that this is to combat botting, but it's fairly harsh for f2p players. There are also labor pots in the marketplace which gives someone wanting to buy them a pretty huge advantage(restores 1000 labor with 12h cooldown, but no restrictions on account yet). The overall difference between a free player and a paying player is pretty huge. I think they said they read these comments, and are discussing things with XLGames. I hope things change, because it's fairly difficult to feel the freedom I think is needed for games like this. From my experience, it's too low for f2p players. For example, those coinpurse drop you get from mobs increase in LP cost for identification the later you go. Right now I have like 198 of the "noble's coinpurse", each costing me 4 lp to unlock them. Equipment loot dropping also seems very low. I have gotten only 1 item from a regular mob in the game so far. I am level 39. Maybe it's because where I lived in Florida but I never had this kind of experience, pretty secularishy stuff.

I don't see you on my list sadly. The friends list seems to be a one way thing. I've mostly been questing/grinding as well because everything else involves a lot of labor + there's a bunch of things you can do. I want to hit 50, but I kind of get distracted by things. For example, I just used my rowboat to go across the sea. I went from Haranya to Nuia, came across an island(Thunder Isle?) that was run by a guild or something. They let me go explore around the island while watching me(I assume they thought I would steal their stuff or something), then I left without dying(got lucky). Pretty cool experience. haha. See screenshot if interested of random middle of the sea at night shot on the rowboat leaving that island. The graphics in this game are just beautiful to look at when doing things like gliding, fishing, sailing your boat, etc.
