what is worse is that i'm in damn pizza limbo in this apartment. i'm technically in another zip code from the closest store to me, so they refuse to deliver...across the street a ways. and its just far enough to not be worth walking there in florida summer. | ||

It is, but that doesn't mean it's so easy to just drop what you're feelings are, expecially if they've been obsessively harbored for years at a time. A lot of the time people take any sort of nicety as an 'in' in some way, so in a rejection that is not completely direct leaving no room for euphemism or misinterpretation, hope can and will be retained. | ||

Uh Pretty sure the only misinterpretation is him thinking her trying to tell him in the nicest way possible that she only wants to be his friend, and not his dick's friend, was somehow saying "you have a chance to get your dick in me." If he can't pick up typical letdowns like that and misinterprets them, that's 100% his fault. The line she used is literally in the unwritten standard book of women's letdowns. | ||

Of course it's not her fault that he feels this way, and he needs to work through his feelings himself, but she can at least do her part to not make things more complicated for him by being as upfront and honest as possible. Again, much of the time as cynical or hopeless as this may sound, the best way for this guy to get over this shit is to drop all contact. It is exceedingly difficult to get over somebody when you have to see them and interact with them constantly. Edit: Like I get the counterpoint to the argument, it's not her responsibility to deal with his feelings, but complete unwavering honesty is the best course of action here. Lovesick teenagers/young adults/whatever are absolutely NOT logical for the most part, so yes they will take attempts to 'spare feelings' as hope, as dumb as you may think that sounds. | ||
