Oh for the game it's 100% trial and error. You just learn what things do by picking them up. I highly recommend you don't look up the items because the discovery process is awesome. So the game tells you nothing about what the items do until you actually pick them up. But that information is not archived for future reference.

Like one guy kept calling navi us 'narvi.' Was kind of annoying. This is because they were NAR, so it's NARVI. It's done on purpose because calling them Na'Vi US is silly, and actually awkward in comparison. I'd rather they just call them NAR still, but NARvi caught on. Tobiwan is just over hype. Everything about his casting style fits this description. He exaggerates everything, and he is very biased towards his own personal tastes in terms of teams. There's bias, and then there's tobi. This is both a good and bad thing. It brings out certain hype/excitement sure, but it paints a bad picture for the certain viewers who don't know enough to realize how exaggerated his comments are. I dislike him because I feel he lacks game knowledge(and that's coming from someone who is lacking in that aspect too), and I don't find him particularly genuine about how he casts. Mostly, I want a caster I can listen to WHILE learning more about the game. I don't really find that happens with Tobi, and so I usually dislike his casting. Of course, there are worse casters, and LoL casters still have a long way to go to get anywhere near certain DotA or SC2 casters.

I learned a lot listening to Tobi when I first started being interested in Dota, much the same that Husky taught me a lot about SC.

And yeah I've heard people bashing on tobis in game knowledge before but I guess it's not like I have any examples as to what he's saying that's wrong. Soniv's analogy is probably the right of it.

Instead they kind of did nothing for a bit, let iG's supports roam(2 kills) before they did any type of attempted answer, which was a smoke gank top on a Bristle with an Earth Shaker guarding him. So ya, they really fucked up after having a very abusable start to the game.

Na'Vi just got dumped into the clusterfuck of teams about to be in the pair of tiebreakers(there's almost certainly going to be two, one for 8-7, one for 7-8, being 8-7 means you advance, being 7-8 means you're fighting for maybe 9th, 10th, or eliminated, but that depends on how many teams finish where).

He will put a positive spin on the team of his preference. I don't mind honest bias/calling a player out because they do something dumb. I mean a lot of the NA teams have this huge problem where one or many of them will just do something mind-bogglingly bad. There's nothing wrong with calling that out to be informative. There's a lack of honesty in casters, and it's a bit difficult to learn when casters are putting everything in a positive spin. Casters from all games do this a lot. I dislike it because it teaches things in the wrong way/reinforces certain wrong ideas. On July 12 2014 14:02 jcarlsoniv wrote: Poll: Game you'd be more interested in watching me stream tomorrow? That's also the difference though, as there's a lot higher game understanding within the Chinese commentary crew given the higher concentration of talent/experience. So while the Chinese commentators are more biased, they're also more likely to judge the GAME fairly because they actually know what the fuck is going on.

Lol this makes me want to restream some phase 3/4 game next week and attempt to cast. Actually I could just mute sound and do it from client, right?

It's really a shame you know more than nothing about Dota because I'd be super excited for a cast like Doa's at that one WCG.

I certainly don't know any of the items and I know absolutely nothing about >50% of the heroes and like maybe 2 abilities of the leftovers.

I haven't bothered with the official Chinese casts, but according to Reddit, the official Chinese TI4 casters are apparently awful.

Whether or not VG was prepared for it or has seen it before, C9 played it well, Aui farmed up so huge my god. Edit: Fucking Lysander casting yet another iG game, I am so sick of him. Fuck you and your casting choices Valve. How does Visage works with Drow? Iirc Drow sucks versus gapclosers and stuff like that (or she needs Abyssal Blade, and even then her ult gets disabled), if he a good peeler? Because of familiars to keep stunning people and zone them?

Think this is a bit of an unfair comparison for Tobi. Tobi may just be the best caster in esports currently for adding in hype and excitement into a game. He does/says some silly stuff but I haven't come across anyone else that can just bring that energy for such long stretches of time. The Tobi/Syn combo may be best in the business at least English wise. Husky was always more of a youtube guy where his live casting while passable never truly shone I feel. Drow is just really potent in a ranged pushing strat. On July 12 2014 15:14 WaveofShadow wrote: I remember that one. Or tasteless casting.....league was it? I forget. Ayesee pretty much just talks about what he sees on the screen. Everytime he venture into giving an opinion on the game he sounds like a complete moron. So if you got a good voice and can add excitement into a game then you set. You got the first at least to my knowledge?
