Although there are also more edgeguard options.

I will be visiting Italy in a couple weeks. How credit-card friendly are most places over there? I mean here in the States, I barely use cash at all. Should I bring cash/traveler's checks? Should I just use a credit/debit card?

This is probably because of some hidden ELO nonsense that thinks I'm awesome because I won my first 12 games (carried in nearly all of them, I still dont know how to win in this game) and was 20-1 before this abysmal streak. /sadness off.

Gonna hit the normal spots, Rome and Venice and Vatican, then things like Lucca, Cinque Terre, maybe go up north to the mountains. Mostly checking out historic stuff and sightseeing. Touristy stuff.

I mean here in the States, I barely use cash at all. Should I bring cash/traveler's checks? Should I just use a credit/debit card? How the fuck are you not asking me this question. Here's what you need to do. #1 - Look at the back of your card/cards. There'll be little brand names on there. + Show Spoiler + ![]() Here's an example. On the back of this card we see Banelco and Plus. When you're in Europe, the ATMs will all have a bunch of brand names like that on them. If an ATM has stuff on them that matches at least one thing on the back of your card, it'll work. If nothing matches, it's not going to work. Sometimes you might have to hunt through 3 or 4 ATMs to find one that your card likes but I've never had a serious problem. #2 - Call your bank and tell them exactly what days you're going to be in Italy. If you don't do that, the first time you try to withdraw money in Italy they'll suspend your card. You should also ask them what their fee is for withdrawing money abroad but it's probably not a big deal. Personally I usually bring like 50-100$ in cash just for emergencies when I go to Europe, but I've never actually had to use it, Italy included. I just use my debit card and ATMs. It's likely easier to go to an ATM once a day and take out your budget for the day than it is to try to use your card in things like restaurants. That'll work sometimes but other times they'll say they can't run the card and point you to the nearest ATM.
