Lost a book important to finishing a project in the library last night and no one turned it in. There's no practical reason for anyone to need a book for advertising prices in 2008. I don't understand why someone would take it and not turn it in...

I've really started to gravitate towards more "clean metal" types of songs. Maybe that's not the best way to describe it, but like you know, songs with metal type instruments but clean lyrics and not super heavy. Kinda like

I mean, I still enjoy hard metal and growling, but I feel like this sort of stuff has been my go to lately.

We have a bunch of determinants sneaking in, but nope, I think the literal translation would indeed be "earth apple" in that case. It's pretty much interchangeable with potato anyway.

We call a bathroom, "a bathroom" (salle de bain). Bathroom as in restroom is either WC ('cause, y'know, it comes from one of you English-speaking countries) or "les toilettes" (hard to translate apart from toilets I guess, since we don't use stuff like closet in that context).

"Lampe-torche" and "lampe de poche" both work, the latter being a bit more familiar.
