My job has me indirectly work with cameras a lot, this family of cameras exactly at the moment so its kinda funny to see it pop up here lol. That said, the nex-8 or whatever number Sony decides to give the successor of this is coming out soon (tm), so it should be a good time to pick up the 7 for cheap or wait to get the newer version if you care about that kinda thing.

Mostly travel photos. I want something that I can take to Europe or Asia and go backpacking with that's small enough to hide in a pocket so it doesn't get stolen when I'm sleeping in a hostel or on a park bench, but takes photos as close to DSLR quality as possible.

I'd probably just go with a really nice point and shoot in that case. interchangeable lens cameras are annoying if you're going around for any purpose that's not to take really nice photos, and the protruding lens can make it awkward to carry around. a quick google search seem to give good reviews to the sony rx100.

ebay prices for the full frame d700 are around d7100 prices... very tempting...

Feels oddly asymmetric because the Dark/Fighting/Psychic triangle is asymmetric because Dark has an immunity to Psychic.

Should have picked one like Rock/Flying/Fighting, though I guess that one's awkward because Grass > Rock and Flying > Grass

Hmm, on second thought it looks like they chose these specific pairs because of how rare those type combinations are among previous gens. 3 or less Pokemon with each of these respective type combinations.

I haven't played much of generation 5 or of the later generations, but one of the things I really liked about generation 4 was how they started adding some really, really wonky type combinations. Water/Normal and Ice/Grass are the ones that come to mind initially.

One thing I didn't like about generation 4 was how Psychic types got that obnoxious fighting move (I think it was Focus Blast?) that hit like a truck. Made my Tyranitar go HRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH.

Ice+Grass kind of makes sense. Cold climate plants etc.

Normal+anything just feels really weird unless it's for evolution consistency because what the fuck is "normal"? How is Normal/Grass different from just Grass thematically?

Well I understand where you're coming from, but for me all I ever saw for normal types were either just straight up Normal or Normal/Flying. So when I saw Normal/Water, that really blew my mind.

For me it was more for the novelty than the practicality. Similar to Gonzales in FE6. The only reason why I wanted to use him was because he was a brigand, not whether or not he was actually good.
