Plus since there's no way I'd read Umineko while being tired I'll have to move my ass and actually take books if I want some mystery.

"Games" is a very broad definition anyways. I think the Hunger Games didn't really explore the setting of the games well at all despite all the opportunities it had, it just settled with some cliche and contrived dystopian survival thing which wasn't that "game-like" if that makes any sense.

I agree, especially during the first book while I was reading it I kept imagining strategies and stuff they were planning but then they just lay around in a cave and I was a little bummed. I liked the world and it demanded dark gritty cutthroat action, the book didn't deliver and kinda fell flat for me, the movie was, as always, worse. wasn't really a serious suggestion.

The Yu-Gi-Oh manga is an obvious suggestion. Yugi plays a huge variety of games with random people, then destroys their souls. I've only read them in french but the first 10 or so were quite good. Duel Monsters is only a tiny portion of the plot, unlike in the show. I can remember them playing Air Hockey of Death, Tetris of Death, Rock'em Sock'em Robots of Death and Yo-Yo Battle of Death.

unless 'card' games are expanded to include mahjong, in which case MUDAZUMO NAKI KAIKAKU is the true watershed moment why read the umineko vn when you can turn your brain off and get the anime experience instead, dramatic op included

It's a bit of the same stuff to me: YA litterature that people started raving about when movies were announced, said movies being generally judged as "meh" from what I heard/read. Plus there's "game" in the name! Totally the same. Woah woah woah. back the fuck up. Ender's Game was immensely popular and defined the childhoods of generations of nerdy kids, and it should be in no way, shape, or form be equated to Hunger Games. People raved about Ender's Game loooong before any movies were a thing, and the movie was a violent violation of everything pure and good in the world.

![]() I've read up to episode 5, which basically ends with "yo if you want to check out on your own theories you'd better reread everything up to this point before proceeding because we're about to move on", so I'm rereading it; I had good conclusions but missed a bunch of details so I want to check out again before they start dishing out solutions and I feel like I missed the fun. As a kid I read about everything in arm's reach, from a stray Zorro novel to shortened Robinson Crusoe and Moby Dick. I also spat on Harry Potter after reading the first because age doesn't matter to be a hipster.

I read Everworld too. I also recall absolutely nothing about it other than the fact that it just lifted things from mythology.

It's weird, the movie felt soooo rushed and yet they cut out half the plot. I'm not sure how it could have been done better, maybe unfilmable movie. Obviously the last 5 minutes was concentrated cancer that ruined any good that there was in the movie.

You can read my tl;dr rant about it here. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/entertainment/287935-movie-enders-game?page=23#458 Should've just split it into two movies. If The Hobbit can be made into three movies you can make two movies out of Ender's Game -_-X

I'm a huge nerd for series that deal with god like individuals being portrayed as more causal like. Anything with Nordic and Greek gods or even characters like Michael, Gabriel, lucifer in a sort of struggle of angel vs demons way. Probably why i loved supernatural season 4 or 5 where they were a heavy source of the plot
