Nah, Eevee is firstpick/ban there's no way to know where it's going on a proper team.

Na, on paper you force a Flareon because you took out the remaining Flying and Fire to deal with the Grass-types, 'cept they're Grass/Poison so just pick Abra, stall a bit, and wreck them while keeping the freedom to evolve Eevee however you'd like.

Who picks grass types anyway? They're all garbage.

If we're only talking from a Gen 1 standpoint, then the Poison subtype is a MASSIVE weakness and pretty much makes Bulbasaur objectively the weakest.

Anything else and there's more of an argument.

Yeah that poison subtype really messes up Bulbasaur. I was more going for a "I like the design of Bulbasaur more than Squirtle" argument.

Of course that being said, another reason why I like choosing Bulbasaur over Squirtle is that if I choose Squirtle then I'm seriously limiting my selection of water type pokemon for my party. Sure Bulbasaur gets messed up by everything, but in generation 1 at least I feel that there is less selection for solid grass type pokemon. Off the top of my head, I can only really think of Oddish, Bellsprout, Bulbasaur and I would say Paras but I don't think it's actually a grass type. But for water pokemon you have a whole slew of pokemon to choose from, so in that case I think Squirtle could be a little limiting.

And then for the real plot twist, I think Charmander is my favorite generation 1 starter.

Who picks grass types anyway? They're all garbage.

I think Bulbasaur is strictly better than Squirtle.

Leave Eevee open to bait the first pick, then snatch Charmander and Pidgey. then you get Grass-types to counter the obvious Squirtle/Geodude/Poliwag counterpicks and you make sure to keep them away from the Flareon you just forced, snatching the remaining Water-type for your last pick, npnp. Unless it's 6v6.

Paras/Parasect, Tangela, Exeggcute/Exeggutor.

Grass is a pretty poor type overall though, imo. When it comes to offensive power, it's good against Water, Rock, and Ground, and you likely already have a Water type, so grab an Electric type instead and also be covered against Flying. It's weak to Flying, Fire, and Ice, three pretty common offensive attacks.
It's your boy Guzma!
