It was a sad day. Read it first though. + Show Spoiler + It does tie in excellently with the title of the series and knotting a decent lot of stuff while letting the world " live" for later/sideprojects.

You were the one attempting to pass off your insults as jokes whenever I called you out on them. If they were truly jokes in the first place, they weren't funny. You seem like a decent dude, but I will call you out when you're acting like an ass. I would know, I act like a complete douche quite often and am called out on it. But the way you've been talking about something you clearly don't care to know much about is, frankly, asshole-ish. I don't know much about rap, and I don't like most of what I've heard. But I would never see a group of people talking about their love of rap and then insult it in the most broad terms when I've only listened to a handful of songs and artists. If insult humor is what you do best, keep your day job. Very true story: I very nearly didn't read ASoIaF. I read the first 5 chapters and was so mindbogglingly bored with every character and GRRM's drawn out prose that I put it aside for a year and a half. It wasn't until I was bored riding the train that I brought it with and read the rest of it. Before that, I thought it was the same dry, boring, stupid high-fantasy setting with the same characters you see in a pulp paperback, but with a twist of being "grimdark" because MCs die. The writing and setting are cliche, the characters are tropes incarnate, and the prose is muddled and drudging at times. Someone told me it got a lot more interesting and that I should finish it because the characters become fleshed out and the world comes together to create something better. I now own all the books and both seasons that are out right now. I love it a lot. And yet I still didn't go around proclaiming I was a master on the subject and that it sucked and was cliche trash because I had put in all of like 20 minutes on the thing. As you might surmise, that would make me sound like a bit of a prick. I hope you see the parallel I'm trying to make here. I really don't care about whether you like it or not. I care that you're acting like you know more about the subject matter than myself or anyone else when you yourself freely admit you don't care about it. You don't know a damn thing about the story, aside from the fact that a lot of people seem to enjoy it. And yet you seem to think that's good grounds to attack it. I've tried to explain to you the merits of the story and characters, but you've all but closed your ears and laughed. It's insulting how churlish and childish you're being about it. Now I'm trying to tell you why your behaviors are making you look like an asshole, and you're trying to play the victim card and pass the whole thing off as a joke. No. Fuck that. Look, I don't want to make this a blog post, but KS means way the hell too much to me for your petty shit to fly by. + Show Spoiler + I was in a very dark place in my life. You think the depressive episodes you guys have seen are anything? I spend the better part of a year covered in bruises and small cuts just to see if I still felt pain. I was one step from a noose. I spoke to no one, lied to my family, and only slept an hour a night because I stayed up all night crying. I played KS because I thought it'd be a funny wank, but it ended up turning my life around. I got in shape, I opened up, I felt happy for the first time in so long that I couldn't even remember. A few months later, in quick succession, I was laid off and my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. The only thing that kept me sane was playing the last few routes I hadn't finished and listening to the soundtrack. It gave me the strength to get through what was likely the most difficult challenge I've ever had to face in my life. Insult me? Fine. I'm not that bright, I have an obsessive personality. I act like a moron and I suck at everything I try. Go ahead, if I was going to let insults affect me I would have jumped out a window in the seventh grade. But to insult KS is, to me, to insult the very core of my being. It means as much to me as insulting my faith or my family, and I will defend it to the bitter end or until the mods ban me for posting too much. I will not stand for it from someone who doesn't know the damnedest thing about it and is just flaming it because he didn't like the first chapter. You want to give your opinion in a well thought out manner? Cool. You want to keep it to yourself? Great. You want to insult something I love, something that may have kept me on this planet? It's go time motherfucker. Do not pass it off as a joke, do not pretend to know more about the story than I do because you tasted the surface and maybe read a wiki article. It's not the best written story. They're not the most well rounded characters in fiction. It's flawed and painful and beautiful and perfect because of it. If you want to dislike it because it doesn't suit you fine, but don't belittle it because of that. It means more to me than this whole damn online persona and I will eat a fucking permaban if that's what it takes to defend it. Sincerely, Requizen PS: Trying to pass off Jake Sully of Avatar as a well rounded character is the stupidest argument I've ever seen, as he's the most blatant self-insert Gary Stu of our generation, and does nothing but hurt your argument.

At first I thought it was kind of lighthearted and a typical Batman vs Superman type internet argument but it's been going on for too long now. Neither one of you are suddenly going to convince the other that he was wrong in his last 10 paragraphs. I suggest you just be bigger people and drop it. TL;DR People enjoy different things. I would be fine with that. As I said, I'm not trying to convince him it's a work of art. For my first post or two I was, but it became quickly clear that he was just insulting it without knowing anything about it other than his preconceived notions. I'm trying to tell him why that's, pardon my french, fucking dumb. I would be more than happy to drop it if Osmoses admitted that he was in the wrong for his actions. Personally, I don't care if he never plays it again or even finishes it and still dislikes it. It was just his mannerisms and brash attitude that have gotten me so fired up. I realize that this is the internet and that's how people act, but if that's the case I also have the right to act fervently in my defense. EDIT HIGHLY RELEVANT ![]() ![]()

Anyone have any thoughts/personal experiences/recommendations? Any and all info is welcome~ I recently got a Das Ultimate, I quite like it. Personally, though, while I can feel the feedback and I know it probably increases reaction time and what not, I don't think it's made a huge impact on my input. It's a great keyboard and one I'm happy to own, but if you're pinching pennies it's likely not worth all too much.

It might seem dumb, and I may look like a fool, but for me it's worth sticking my chin out for. There's lots of things that I'll just let insults slide on, but KS is not one of those things.

Anyone have any thoughts/personal experiences/recommendations? Any and all info is welcome~ CLACKITY CLACKITY CLACKITY I personally have the Saitek Eclipse II, have been using it for years. The WASD keys are worn as expected, but it's a really nice keyboard. It's fairly quiet/soft as far as keyboards go, but it is a bit on the pricey side, I suppose. Normally I'd agree, but on TL, we're a little community. I certainly value the opinions of *most* TLers more than I would anywhere else on the internet.
