I have no time for the gym during the school week, which fucking sucks since I had the time of my life working out over the summer. I figure I might just start bodyweight excersizes at home, even though the progress is probably much slower than lifting.
Buy a set of dumbbells. And pushups.
Gym is nice and all but don't let be the reason why you don't exercise. Having a lack of time and not being able to go to the gym is very real. Not doing simple but effective workout stuff in your own home isn't.
(I feel like a semi-hypocrite for typing this but it's good, honest advice. I do own some dumbbells though, haha)
I've been incredibly lazy as of late too. Every once in a while I'll do a random workout in my apartment. I personally hate gyms and weight lifting.
A set of small dumbbells is definitely a useful thing to own.
@Shake: One thing to note - body weight exercises will help make you lean, not bulk up. They're very good for getting and keeping a healthy physique, but you won't get super strong off them.

Kind of biased here, but swimming is also one of the best ways to tone up and gain strength and endurance. If your form is correct (which if you're going to do it regularly, you need to make sure it is), you work lots of different muscle groups that you don't get with just floor exercises like sit ups and push ups. It won't build muscle like bodybuilding, but it definitely gives you a nice V-shape body and strength.
I used to swim in high school, but I haven't taken the time to find a pool since moving. I really miss it
Yes. I love swimming, and it's so good for upper-body stability (especially shoulders) if done without over exertion. I know a lot of swimmers with fucked up shoulders, but I also use swimming as "pre-hab"/maintenance for my shoulders.
I always wonder what would have happened if my parents put me into swimming instead of gymnastics when I was little. I have the perfect body type for it, my dad was a swimmer, and my grandfather almost went to the olympics for swimming (but opted to have my dad instead).
That's some sick, subtle brag about family genetics, Soniv.
I miss swimming too. Also swam in HS. It's been so long since I've been in a pool. But fuck that chlorine smell, dry skin and dead hair. I definitely don't miss that.
need to work out! office 9-7 then traffic then office chair at home all day everyday TT I'm 6'2 185 and I have been since I was in really good shape but now I'm tubby and probably couldn't run a mile due to smokers lungs

Easy solution to that is to stop smoking
Losing weight is more about what you put in/don't put in that what you do. If you cut pop, sugar/chocolate/etc, and fast food, you'll lose weight just off that, easily. Working out will tone you and help burn excess calories, but managing intake and nutrients is more important.
I need to find time to exercise. I've never been super fit or anything but I feel like I'm not doing myself any favours by being so busy and stuck in front of a computer/notepad for hours and hours on end.

I agree and take care what I eat even more now that I get next to no exercise. Never drank pop or ate chocolate due to acne. Gotta cut more carbs out of my diet but everything bagels are toooooooo good. Quitting smoking.... is going to suck very much. I've never tried before and I've been smoking ~10 a day for ~8 years.

This fucking thing has made me cough so much these past few days I can barely rest because I can't manage to fall asleep. Fuck weather.
Also fuck pools. Never been good at swimming, always hated it. But it'd be perfect for my back problems when I was younger (and even now), and for the muscles I need to develop to support my bone structure. But I hate it. So suck it, swimming. :[ Off playing Mafia at a bar instead, weee.~

Holy balls.
I completely understand how people get addicted to cigarettes. The nicotine high is amazing. It's a good thing I'm too cheap to buy packs of them.
Although I have to yell at my gf anytime she buys cigarillos. Neither of us are tobacco smokers regularly, but we both appreciate that head rush lol.

I'm Czech, EVERYONE in my family smokes, from my brother to my grandparents. It's the most annoying shit ever since it's just a social norm to smoke around people. Though for what it's worth, all of my grandparents have lived to a very old age ^_^

Its different when you are addicted too. there is less headrush feeling and more drinking a tall glass of water when your really thirsty feeling. So habitual too. Can never wait for bus, eat, or wake up without craving TT. Yup difficulty breathing, terrible breath, increased risk of lung cancer, thousands of dollars, satisfying glasses of water.

My liver, on the other hand...
I've had cigs in my lifetime, never really got anything from them so I didn't go beyond a casual one when offered at a party. From how they seem to end up in the end maybe it's for the best. I had one bad experience drinking and since then I really can't have much alcohol except maybe forcing a can down my throat to get a buzz.

Yeah, which is why I'm glad I am able to keep myself from wanting to go buy a pack. Addictions are rough =/
As it is, I can only have the occasional cig at a party or something or I get pretty nauseous.
