The 'cutting' is just to get the general shape. Sure it's not folded steel or something, but it's definitely a properly forged blade. | ||

There's a whole science to making different steels with variations in carbon concentration and additives to change the properties. It's a LOT easier to buy a sheet of 1040 steel(for example) than it is to start with a block of iron ore, and turn it into a usable sword, and you'll get a better quality product too. It's definitely a forged blade, even there's a ton more work he could've done on it. | ||
