Pity none accepted the invitation :/
Anyway, curious to see how the meta has been shaken by the patch and the hotfix

maybe b'cause of higher travel costs. Still curious to see how European underdogs perform today. Rooting for Fjant to put hands on hundred bucks for the first non-advancing place in da group. go! go! go!

Considering you'd pretty much have to win to come out ahead and that means getting past Serral/Clem it's not very enticing. Throw the patch uncertainty on top of that and it's no surprise.
Hope for some good games.

Solar woulda had a good chance of winning if you look at new patch events so far, but I don't think he was scheduling his life around this version of the patch going live on June 22 (not to mention HSC wasn't decided to be played on new patch until recently).
|
Haven't had a chance to see any games was out on the boat all morning, looks like shino had a decent showing otherwise pretty much went as expected
|
Lets see what kind of fun strats lorimbo has come up with
Expecting Clem to advance and showtime as second, eventhough with the recent patch Elazer could make it really tight for that second place

Solar would have loved to play but I invited him pretty short-term and he wouldnt be able to renew his id in time.
- Bovo (with take's account , sorry!)

PvZ looks kinda sad (although i think showtime also hasnt looked very good from what i've seen recently).

I'm more so interested to see non korean events at the moment in SC2, this will be great! Thanks Take, always killin it brotha!

The main problem with the match-up is Z just gets full information (often without even having to pay the 100 or 200 overlord tax), and this also bleeds into ZvT to a lesser extent.
I was surprised they dialed back the overlord speed nerf as much as they did. Doesn't really function with the current map status quo, one has to give. Would like to see some type of change in general on both sides that adds a little bit of spice in the matchup, perhaps after we get another month or so of data.

Nice bracket, pretty straight forward. Most likley to get an upset would be Elazer imo
|
Will they be playing on the hotfixed patch?

Has there been another hotfix since yesterday? Otherwise they are playing on the latest patch/fix

Reynor: Loses ZvZ vs. GgMachine and Shino Also Reynor: Beats Elazer and Serral 3:0 in the same week ????????????

lmao serral's grin with the banter is pretty good

Uh, absolutely insane game with the most anti-climatic (and early?) gg timing.

Clem is clearly not confident in the new patch, he has been pretty tilted lately so this is looks like (yet another) tournament for Serral.

excited to have the double-elim debate again after Clem wins 2-1

Clem is a nice guy, he'll spare us the trouble by losing 6-0.
|
Goes to show that it's hard to win a best of 7 when you're tilted out of your mind from game 1.
|
SERRAL 6-0 CLEM, wow. He cannot stop winning.
Not entirely sure what this entails for the double elimination debate but I'm looking forward to it.

Huge thanks to Take and crew for a super entertaining and fun event--can never take these for granted anymore!

Thank you TakeTv for another amazing home story tournament
I really love it when lambo was casting the finals. His knowledge about the matchup was utterly amazing. It’s shows such a deep layer to the casting and games
Goat Serral with another championship

Big thanks to Take and team. This was great fun, as always.
Looking forward to the 30th special edition of HSC in the ski center (although the snow might lend still greater power to Serral).

Clem 0-6 Serral and HeroMarine not even making it out of group stage, so far the patch is giving expected results I went to sleep just before the reset but kinda knew Serral would 2-0 the bo3 given how he was smashing Clem, woke up to this exact result HSC XXX at the Ski thing seems legendary

Not entirely sure what this entails for the double elimination debate but I'm looking forward to it. Well, this time around the best player of the day won anyway so it is tough to judge. These were also the perfect conditions for the double elim + reset match with Serral being knocked down via 3 weird games to then win against the guy who made him lose, as well as besting the finals 6-0.
I am still not convinced because of the issues pointed out in the other thread but I'd be interested in the pros' opinion though...
Anyway, GGs to the organizers, players and crowds! Thanks for making HSC a super fun event for everyone. One thing that kept bothering me though was the casting from Lorimbo. The contrast with Lambo was striking: while Lambo consistently provided detailed matchup insights and thoughtful analysis, Lorimbo often seemed more focused on proving himself right over trivial points and making himself the center of attention in almost every discussion. I'd seriously reconsider having him cast again... banter is fine, but in my opinion he simply doesn't have a good sense of when to stop.

Clem defeated Reynor though... I think it is too early to judge. In the series with Serral, Clem seemed super tilted after G1. But it was not like there weren't windows for Clem.
The widow mine buff seems to make splits super hard, so I'd wait for more content on the new patch before making a call. Showtime also seemed off and HM didn't make it out of the group stage because he lost to Krystianer. For example what does G1 have to do with the patch? Or even G2? Krystianer even said that he got super lucky in both scenarios.

Game 2 was an absolute banger of a back and forth game with Clem perhaps GGing a bit early in the end.
Overall it mainly felt like Serral had a bit more stamina and was perhaps more used to being up late. Series two had some uncharacteristic mistakes from Clem and Serral snowballed off of them, but if Serral made 1-2 mistakes more the initial 4:0 could have just as easily been a 2:2.
Also Clem beat Raynor before that. I don't think the matchup looks super one-sided tbh.

Shit, I fell asleep during game 2 and now you tell me Clem went out 0-6??? FML gg's to Serral hahahahaha

Afaik Clem goes to bed very late actually, like 5am and sometimes play counter strike with friends at such hours. He was notorious for being late to 2pm cups because he wakes up super late etc But yeah I guess we will see.
|
If it would be about sleep and going late, would have Clem favoured in that segment, serral notorious for going to bed alot earlier then others

Caught most of what I could, plan to go back and watch a couple that I missed (mainly interested in skillous vs lambo).
In all of the games that Serral won the only 'mistakes' I can even point out were a couple econ mismanagements in ZvZ (ended up not mattering and he played around them well) and game 3 or 4 vs clem where he lost 6ish drones early (which clem counteracted by throwing away 2 banshees right after). Outside of that he was an absolute wall. Queens were always in position, ling backstabs were crispy early on, but slowed down a little most likely due to fatigue. Quite the treat to watch.
Placements in the tournament thankfully had nothing to do with the patch. However, after watching the only tweaks I would like to see made after my previous suggestions are: -Getting rid of mine re-targeting (If we're keeping this faster version - still able to unburrow to cancel) -New take on Orbitals. With how the economy is sorting out I'd like to alter my changes slightly. MULEs still get removed. Oribitals construct 3s faster. Scvs train 2 seconds faster out of an orbital. Calldown supply grants +50 HP and +1 armor to the depot and heals it to full instantaneously.
I think everyone wants to see the mass orbital turtle play gone. Workers should always matter at all stages of the game. I'd imagine then we could finally see 2 supply ghost not cause as much of a fuss once the 170+ supply cookie cutter army that's also still capable of a better economy is no longer possible.
