Dark and ByuN lost their seeding matches, which presumably means that they will be opponents of seeded players in code a. So TY, Maru, Stats could draw them and we would see some early eliminations of top players.

What are the seeding matches for, and why only on Day 2 please?

-4 players from day 1 -4 winners bracket winners from day 2 -4 winners bracket losers from day 2 -4 players from losers bracket from day 2
so they have their usual 4 tiers to build up the groups/bracket/whatever

And those 16 players play in groups GSL style and 8 advance right?

yes regarding to the 8 players advancing to Code S.
we don't have any additional info on the format yet, we only have this atm:
File:ESL Pro Tour Season 2021-22 - GSL Format.png
it being single-elimination bo5 probably means the old 1v1 x 8 matches and the winner moves on but with gsl you never know right?
trying to get "insider" info on it atm

GSL ST1 1st ~ 4th -> GSL S1 Code S
Qualifier Day 1 Group 1st (4 Players) -> GSL S1 Code S Day 1 Group 2nd (4 Players) -> GSL S1 Code A (Tier 1 Player) Day 2 Group 1st (4 Players) -> GSL S1 Code A (Tier 1 Player) Day 2 Group 2nd ~ 3rd (8 Players) -> GSL S1 Code A (Tier 2 Player)
Tier 1 vs Tier 2 players compete on the Bo5 in Code A and advance to Code S Ro.16.

so 8x1v1 Bo5 matches the winner of each moves on to Code S?

whew creator made it! And we'll be seeing percival at long last which is exciting
|
I am happy that Percival and Prince made it.
I don't quite understand with the Code A system. Whoever lost in Code A, do they remain there until the next season?
|
|
|
I wonder if they will draw the opponents or decide match-ups based on 2020 GSL standings.
|
|
Ty for info! Will there be a stream for this?
|
Tier 1 players who have to face Dark or ByuN would be pretty happy !!
Some big names will be missing in the next Code S!
|
I wish Code A was a group stage or double elimination, seems pretty silly how easily you can get knocked out if you get an unlucky draw
Bring back the Up And Down Matches! Pretty sure Life's royal road went through the up and down matches, I think he lost to Leenock in Code A

i just want zoun to win this season
