It's a bit sad how lopsided the first series was, but I wouldn't blame it on the maps. Everything is possible this early in a map pool, and Zest just read TY like a book.

Multiple strategic points on far-apart positions on the map, Zest somehow won all of the "where should my army be right now" fights by like 5~20 seconsd Yeah Zest just knew everything TY was going to do. And TY at no moment in the entire series got a single thing going for himself. When Zest had an opening somewhere, TY always attacked the base that had units. I also don't think TY's build was any good. Not having stim against Protoss until they have blink, charge and started storm is awful.

With the benefit of perfect hindsight, the gold base did feel really vulnerable early, and just one credible attack from TY could have sent Zest into a downward spiral. But that's sorta how gold-base maps have always worked, no matter the era.

It would be ok if TY took time to scout it, but he actually scout it super fast, and still couldn't do anything. And let's not start on the island map + close aerial positions with slow things, that reminds me of the dark age of WoL.
