Well we just had Bunny and Solar. And I think Stats by now is probably no longer in a condition where he could cast even in Korean.

Every time I point out he MIGHT be the best zerg in all matchups ... they come out of the woodwork.

Sc2 culture is so much worse then the bw scene was. I can't tell if it is age or just part and parcel of the whole internet getting stupider. These forums often barely differ from USEast.

... the public chat on west is actually worse then east. Dark times.

Well, not speaking about Serral when Serral is playing a ZvT. I rarely introduce the argument, but I almost always speak when senseless things are said(quite often).

I think the debate about best zerg is valid. I think many members on this forum have great perspective in both directions.

Obviously, I am not talking about people who have valid commentary, having veteran sc2 players/members disagree with me is great, obviously they have valid reasons for disagreeing with me. I am totally fine with being wrong and learning why.

It is the bandwagon of rage that shows up whenever he is mentioned.

Is korean-0-phile a thing? Korean-centric? Dick riders?
Not sure, but their is an anti-fan element that I lack good language to describe.

If TRUE would have won what Serral did and played just like he does, WCS titles would still be compared to Olimoleagues but the atmosphere would be much more relaxed like it happens in Brood War forums and how it used to be during HoTS(my answer to what Opisska is saying).

I wonder why that might be... Maybe because TRUE doesn't have as fanatic fanboys as Serral?

In terms of attention from the community, foreigners have to do half as much as koreans to get hype. Probably less than half actually. They can literally win one big match/event and the community will take years to stop talking about it. Even if 9/10 times they lose.

imagine saying that without sarcasm

Remember when Neeb won a single lategame against Rogue and people didn't stop talking about it for ages? Even though he got smacked 2-0 in both followup matches right after.

Or maybe when Neeb won kespa cup and had something like a 16% winrate against koreans for a year after? People were still bringing up kespa cup the whole time.

Remember how hyped Scarlett was for making ro8 in GSL despite the fact she's had nine attempts and only one good run (where she basically cheesed every game iirc).

Remember when Serral won GSL vs The World, one of the weakest weekenders of the year, and was suddenly praised as the best player in the world when Maru was literally winning back-to-back GSLs? Or if you wanna go even further, Serral has won two relevant tournaments and is in the running for GOAT according to a lot of people.

Hell, people didn't stop talking about Showtime beating ByuN at blizzcon a few years ago. No one brings up the fact he's gone 0-17 against korean terrans since.

Point is, compare that with lower tier koreans, no one cares when Hurricane makes a deep GSL run or Bunny beats Maru in a bo3. Stats could have won GSL vs TW and blizzcon and would have had a fraction of the hype Serral did.

edit: to clarify, I'm not trying to downplay what those foreigners did, I'm just saying that it's easier for them to get praise and hype from the community.

I remember the community hyping it up when those games happened, i havent seen or heard references to those games this year, up until this moment

Also it's actually mind-blowing how you self-hypnotize yourself into believing that GSL vs the world is a meaningless weak weekender, while GSL season is the end all be all tournament, while it's literally the same people playing, with different format. I mean you do this in the same sentence, i'm just amazed at this level of self-delusion.

"literally the same people playing" with half of the players being foreigners and half of the players being voted in.
i'm just amazed at this level of self-delusion.

Serrals run: INnovation, Dark, Stats.
Wayyyy more difficult than Dark's recent GSL run

I don't think either Zest or soO care to learn the matchup timings and intricacies of the current meta; they just go for outplaying the opponent in army control and hyper aggression and hope for the best

Clearly, inferior non-European understanding of the game has no future!

Zest has done this to virtually every Zerg in the tournament. Let's see if he can do it to Serral too.

Need - I do not think it is possible to play top level zerg without detailed timings.

I've never seen a soO game where at the end I just think "god damn he's so good"

Dunno, soO is caught off-guard 50% of the time and just puts together some ad-hoc defense and survive, and his low econ style helps him cause he never really overdrones and has some army handy. Feels more like he relies on well-developed intuition rather than studious knowledge of the meta
