So what remains when the similar results are taken away? Rain: 1 HSC Stats: 1 blizzcon silver and 2 IEM katawice silver.
Does having fangirls eclipse these results of Stats? I disagree

Yeah, if Stats wins the next GSL I think he takes poll position as the GOAT protoss due to him having the most starleague wins and the sheer amount of high placed finishes he's got.

BTW I voted for Rain because I think they have similar results(with Stats), but - FFS - Rain ended his career because he donated part of his liver to his father!

His SC2 career ended because he would rather play BW.

He would have come back to SC2 afterwards if the only reason was the surgery/liver.

Well he took the break because of the operation and then decided to go to BW - that's how I get it. Not that he stopped his career because of BW. Maybe he was just modest about it. But the interview says - I stop because I need to regain strength after the operation and I can't play ATM.

I imagine coming back after such a break and the choice is between having to get back to the top of the SC2 pile, or have streaming BW as a decent earner probably influenced it as well.
SC2 is incredibly top heavy with how the money goes around, be one of the best players and place really high in what relatively sparse tournaments there are, or not make much money at all. At least as far as I’m aware notable good BW players can stream and pay their bills and if they get in shape they have tournaments for glory and extra money.
Plus Rain was a player who was considered to have unfinished business in BW iirc, he was hotly tipped as one of the next top top players but didn’t get the chance to do that.
All things considered he could even prefer the game of SC2 and I think there’s more good reasons to play BW over it. Fantasy likewise moving the other way, he’s proven himself as a great in Brood War, I imagine the challenge of doing it in another game influenced that decision.

Zest too strong. Better hallucinate some Colossi votes Huk!

What, how the heck is Parting taking down Byun. Resultwise Byun has smaller but more distinguished championships, his peak was higher as well.
Edit: Well Parting actually has a ton of quality silver places, I can kind of see it.

We are almost at the end of a the round of 32 so I take the opportunity to re-post this. For context it would be a lighting round to place player between 32 and 17, with vote every day taking about a week total.
Poll: Would you want placement matches?Yes (14) 52% No (8) 30% Only if it's a 16 man round robin (5) 19% 27 total votes You must be logged in to vote in this poll. ☐ Yes ☐ No ☐ Only if it's a 16 man round robin
Also, if everything goes to plan, next round will feature one of TeamLiquid oldest tradition: The battle report! I'll try to analyses each player best/most famous/ most influencial game (or maybe series) to try to show why they deserve a spot in the top 8.

Initially if my memory serves wasn’t Parting really hyped on the back of PvT, and specifically his lategame and tempoar centric play? I recall his play being quite exciting as a ‘legit’ approach to the matchup.
Protoss players considered cheesy tend to be rated lower than those who are considered not, least seems that way to me.
