Same, I got back in time to see Neeb type gg in Game 2. Have to watch the vod I guess, but it's just not the same as watching a foreigner getting stomped live
I think I see what Losira's going for and it's kinda cool. Sturdy zerglings to survive the early game. It was noticeable how much sturdier they were that game.

Mines are plenty strong against LBM, it's just that Terrans have no reliable way of knowing they should be building mines. So they build tanks until the mutas show up, at which point it's too late to switch into mine production with 2 techlab factories
4M is stronger than it's ever been against LBM, but hydras dominate the meta so it's kind of a moot point

I'll believe that when I see Dark trash Maru in late game. aLive isn't on his level.

Rogue already trashed Maru in the lategame last season. Those two are as close to equals as any pro can be right now. Saying Zerg isn't favored in the lategame is pretty much an alternative fact.
The MU is reasonably balanced, but that doesn't mean Terran and Zerg are equal at every stage of the game, and lategame goes to Zerg.

I'd love to see these two play again. Btw seeing Group H, that group could be a ZvT massacre. Although soO isn't known for ZvT.

edit: RIP Losira.
soO's ZvT is pretty bad in the context of top Korean Zergs. He loses regularly to Maru and Inno, not Keen and Major.

Yes Zerg is slightly favored in the lategame, but Terran is in the early to midgame.
I don't understand the whining? it isn't ideal, but please come up with a decent solution instead of complaining

Solution: Buff Zerg midgame and buff terran lategame

That was the original context, somebody who did not believe that Zerg was actually favored in the lategame.

He lost the queens anyway
He did, but he didn't pull back because he thought he could push through. So it was either trying to push through or to lose lots of his units but save more, trying to win it in a macro game. TBH I don't think Losira wanted a macro game against Neeb.

Thinking he could break 3 immortals with that many shield batteries is VERY optimistic. Decisions like those are probably the reason Losira is just a ro32 player nowadays.

Yeah, all he could've tried is to bile nuke the pylons.
Can this group get any worse? It seems only Dark is actually showing up to play. Losira is just so bad defensively. Not sure how he even qualified for this. aLive is just half-dead/half-alive with his games. Korean scene makes me sad sometimes. The pool of actual decent players are so small. The rest are just there to fill GSL group stage.

Or...maybe, just maybe, Neeb was good enough to make aLive and Losira look like foreigners. Maybe it's not that they're bad; Neeb is just that good, just as Dark is that good.

Nah Losira played really really badly against Neeb. Loses the first game to a handful of Adepts and the second by massively overcommiting with his push. aLive didn't really play badly but got super unfortunate that his build didn't work out at all in G1 and that he fell for the fake Collo.

No doubt Neeb is decent but their games didn't even look competitive. Some adepts pressure (without glave) and Losira was losing 13 drones. Even two early adepts got like 3 drones for nothing. He was ahead and the best he could go for a spire and then died to counter-attack. aLive was just a trainwrench. Having engineering bay but built no turrets vs stargate opening. Spent a million scans to make sure there were no observers on top his army but didn't scan the main or natural to confirm if Neeb went for Colossus? I mean his series vs Neeb can a meme-making-machine for this thread on how ridiculous it was.
Okay just spent way too much time looking into this on a hunch.
Neeb advancing to the round of 16 makes it the first time since 2011 that TWO foreigners have made it to the Ro16 together. If Special can win his matches tomorrow, it would be the first time a Code Ro16 had 3 foreigners.
What I think Neeb showed most was his ability to think better on his feet than Alive and Losira. Neeb also showed some starsense about where and when to defend.

Good matches today. On one hand I always want more zergs to make it into later rounds. But Losira just played poorly. Neeb played really well and I'm much happier seeing him advance. Dark was phenomenal like usual.
I do agree that Losira and aLive are both weaker players, but I can make very similar arguments when foreigners face and play poorly. I can point out all the things Neeb did wrong against soO that he would normally do correct.
So it is entirely valid that Losira and aLive just played poorly, but it is also possible that Neeb caused them to play poorly as some Koreans can do to foreigners.

I don't think we have to worry about that. I wish it were a chance but not with that group

You mean vs Dark?
Sure.
At the same time, I can also say game 1 was a bo loss, which doesn't prove anything, and game 2 looked very shaky by Neeb.
It goes both ways. In the same way that Neeb, Losira, and aLive played poorly versus their opponents, they were also outmatched by their opponents.

Might like to check out the second set of the loser's match and the second set of the final match if you're gonna watch something. The second set of the final match shows some quick thinking by one of the players that was pretty unusual.

Nah he will pick Dark as the 4th player. Good luck advancing!
There's no way Dark ends up in Maru's group in that hypothetical. as who ever is picked third for that group immediately gets to pick and wouldn't suicide themselves by picking Dark. Maru would have to use his swap to Dark in his group which means he wouldn't be able to get Neeb and Reynor in his group unless he picks one and they pick the other, or one of them is so feared they get down to the 9th pick and Maru picks one and who ever they pick picks the other, then Maru swaps the middleman for Dark.

I'm pretty sure at that point in the group selection any pick is suicidal.
Solid play by Neeb, he didnt drop a map to Losira or Alive and losing to Dark is nothing to be ashamed about. Couldn't ask for too much more. Not as impressive as Reynor but still good.

Change my initial post to "Dark ends up being the 4th player". Ofc he himself can't pick a 4th player. Also what Elentos said.
I felt like I was watching the open season of GSL seeing Alive completely unable to split marines/ghosts in every game ,it almost seemed as if he didn't care enough to do it.
