BasetradeTV will cover group C,D and playoffs. I'm still trying to find another English cast for group A and B.

Oh. Liquipedia lied to me. Is the Korean player actually random, or is the random there just to hide their identity?

The Korean player is ByuN.
He will be playing on November 22.

Nice. In hindsight it was pretty obvious. I can't think of any other top Korean terrans that would play in a tournament like this. GuMiho would have been possible too.

Can't wait for some new maps and I really hope the reaper gets adressed in the future.
Obivously uThermal still played really well.

Does this start 19:00 CET or 18:00 CET? The topic says 19:00 CEST which is 18:00 CET so that's why I'm a bit confused.
Edit: TL calendar has it 19:00 CET so I'm going to rely on that.

No foreigner stream today since Emil has to go to Krefeld and NarutO has stuff to do with HSC.
Map picks should be up on Liquipedia in a few minutes.

Due to an Internet maintenance at MajOr house he has no Internet connection and he has to forfeit. Welmu qualifies for the RO8.

Group C has been rescheduled to November 25 at 19.00 because ByuN can not play tonight because of the e-sports awards ceremony taking place.

Group C and D are played on the old map pool, RO8 will be played on the new one.

The process of reaching an agreement as to what constitutes a "good" map pool would probably result in several feuds between the organisers. Besides the players wouldn't have practice on that alternate map pool.

Yeah, that's always the reaction. Most players get the bulk of their practice through ladder, so of course they don't want a different map pool. Even in the GSL where players play a lot more customs, the non-ladder maps are picked less.
One way Blizzard could improve (though not solve) the situation would be to increase the number of maps on ladder to something like 11, so that tournaments could pick a subset of those maps for their map pool. This also allows tournaments to avoid significantly imbalanced maps. Besides with the increased prevalence of Bo5s in LotV, a map pool size increase would be welcome.

Maps don't affect matchmaking at all. Since the number of vetoes is less than half the map pool every player has at least a map that overlaps with every other player. So you just get matched against the opponent and then it chooses a map both players have.

Well to be fair he did get completely outsurrounded by Zealots. And when playing mech its 100% neccesary that you have a critical mass of hellbats (+ widow mines?) so you don't die to Zealots because that gets snowballed very fast.
It's better to have slightly too few tanks than slightly too few antizealot-units.
So that might be a composition-adjustment issue that players needs to figure out. It will definitely be exciting to follow the scene and I am sure blizzard will make balance adjustments if mech is still too weak.

SortOf nice Viper play. losing all for nothing is the new meta

Casters are going to draw the bracket once this group is over. I'll update this thread and Liquipedia once the draw is over.

The O'Gaming casters are really praising Nerchio by calling him "the best Starcraft player on Euronics Gaming".

Disappointing series from uThermal. With the new patch, he's gone back to playing like he did nine months ago. I don't think he destroyed more than a handful of creep tumors on Nerchio's side of the map during the entire bo7.

I mean he made BCs and still went for his reapers on a worse map pool. He generally does decently against nerchio just by playing standard
