They aren't. People aren't pushing for a return to 2013, they're pushing for a return to 2015, which is senseless. There is no rational reason to be mad at 2016 if you were fine with 2015. Eh, personally at least I watched some of the WCS games in 2015. I haven't even bothered to watch most of the weekend tournaments outside of a few specific players I care about in 2016. I've even been skipping the finals lately. This DH is probably the most I've watched a WCS tournament this year. I'd say 2015 was better. Well, you do yourself. But there is still no rational reason why watching an event with 7 koreans is inherently better than watching an event with 4 koreans. Except I prefer watching players I care about. Matches are better when I actually care about who wins. Since I watch mostly Koreans I know those players better. So it's certainly better with 7 players I care about than 4 (I'm not saying there are no foreigners I like, but there are certainly more Koreans I care about). And the Korean tournaments are not on times where I can watch them live. So no Koreans at weekend tournaments means there are fewer players I care about. In that case you should also be sad that the pre2015 Koreans were banned, cause you would have even more than 7 back then. Again, the problem isn't wanting more Koreans, the problem is wanting 7 koreans instead of 4 and being really devastated that this number changed in such a meaningless fashion. Well obviously that goes without saying. I don't want region lock to begin with. But if we have to have region lock I would prefer the 2015 model over the 2016 one. Also, I normally try not to complain about it to begin with, because I don't really feel it adds anything to complain, I just don't watch instead. Well then your position is rational, but it doesn't go without saying at all. Part of why we got the 2015 system is because the community pushed for it. The 2016 system is the one who gets shit on, not region locking in general. There was no talk of WCS welfare in 2015, that system went swimmingly. I meant it goes without saying that: On August 14 2016 08:23 Nebuchad wrote: In that case you should also be sad that the pre2015 Koreans were banned as in me personally not liking it. And there might be less complaining about it if there were still Koreans at weekend tournaments, but who knows. Honestly though, is there really that much complaining to begin with really, are you sure that it isn't just a few vocal people? Just like there used to be a few people who posted stuff like "Oh, only Koreans left in the tournament, time to stop watching." back then. If nobody speaks against them, then "a few vocal people" become the voice of the community. So I'm speaking against them. The truth is that it feels more "welfare" than last year because there are more tournaments where this region locking actually applies. Last year we had three seasons which are these championships now, additionally we now have other "weekend" wcs tournaments region locked as well. That wasn't a thing last year. That's the reason people shout these statements. Another truth is (probably) that if it wasn't for that region lock we probably wouldn't have sc2 at any dreamhack/IEM this year.
There aren't more tournaments where it applies, there are less tournaments where it doesn't apply.
