heh, TY with a glorious undefeated 8-0 recorded from SSL qualifiers going against some nameless player who didnt even have a winning record in SSL q's and failed to advance. Talk about unfair match-up

It's the safe option. That way when you lose you can be all 'Meh, thought we'd lose anyway'.
True. I mean I really want KT to win but 9 out of 10 times we fuck up against Jin Air so Jin Air probably wins. Even though I LB'd KT because of bias.
But it's fine if Jin Air wins this round, at least then we don't have to play them in all-kill in post-season.
I just feel like Leenock is gonna play macro and lose so we're immediately behind.
I kinda feel like g1 is irrelevant. I don't see any of our big three winning...maybe rogue can pull off a win but Zest should win the ace no matter what.

Maru's got a pretty solid shot at winning and I'm reluctant to count sOs out against Stats simply because he does sOs things.
I mean I hope you're right, but against Jin Air things just never work out for KT. Even with more favorable lineups than today.
What were those empty boxes on the right of the Winners Ranking supposed to be? If they were penalty indicators herO should have that box full on his row

Cool story mate, I'm not very different though lol.
Rogue actually looking really strong in that game, Zest maybe flopping the defense a bit but it's hard to defend when Zerg is so relentlessly aggressive.

He lost over 20 probes to baneling drops he didn't react to. If that doesn't happen he can probably kill Rogue.

Then it was a runby he didn't react to at all. So what? That's still inexcusable.

Yeah the baneling drops did way too much damage but he was risking losing his army at the same ime, Rogue did that first drop / runbye that killed 14 probes right when Zest was pushing in with a mostly sentry army, if Zest had lost those sentries he would have lost the game right there.

6-1 for TY what the fuck?
Yeah that surprises me. Would have thought it'd be a close 4-3 to one or the other. I'd still favor Maru even after SSL. His TvT record is just bonkers.

Leenock and Cure made horrible mistakes, throwing the game back and forth. Cure threw the best though. Then Rogue checkmated Zest with harassment and teching while Zest pushed.
All those casters except Wolf were such fools. I was surprised when I saw it 6-1 for TY picked over Maru. TY's TvT is good, but against people mechanically better than him (Maru/Inno - yes even Inno slumping currently) can outplay him fairly easily.
I would gladly pay all the money in the world to see a BO7 of this, even though it would probably be 4:0, the games, AMAZING. As expected, GG MARU, what a beast

Not sure about this and I am lazy to look but I think maru trashed TY in the last 3 games. And if someone beast a player regularly on his absolute peak, and in a mirror matchup as well, it just tell the tale really. TY is just not as good as maru and never was

Coming into this match I knew Maru was gonna win it. In regards to proleague, last time I recall TY actually beating Maru was wayyyy back when he did a build order win (somewhat, though it was a rare case of TY completely outplaying Maru) on that same map too. Even so, it was funny to see 6 out of 7 casters write Maru off and predict TY for this. Maru's near flawless record and momentum in PL while TY has been rather mediocre tells a deeper story. Too much stock seems to be given in individual league results.

Got the Forge, guess that was worth it. I wonder how Interceptors interact with the air blocker, say if the Carriers are on one side and Interceptors on another. Can imagine they start bugging out

I thought very strongly that Maru would beat TY, but these other games have been pure Tom-fuckery. I figured that they chose Rogue to snipe Zest in the first game with a particular strategy for Frost, but I'm surprised to see them send him out again against Zest (I know it's blind but there was a really high chance Zest was coming out) when he already played him once. Zest is strong in a longer series (as most top tier players are) but I'm just wondering what Rogue has that makes them believe that he can take another game off of Zest with what people are saying is a Z imbalance in the Korean meta.

Zest really almost never looks happy. Doesn't mean anything. It's like when Classic looks like he's about to cry in the booth when he's down in a series and then crushes his way to victory.

Don't think so. Just not very good vs Zerg.
While that might be true it's odd that he loses basic skills such as microing sentries or being map aware.
The two might not be completely unrelated. I've always noticed that in my worst matchup, im also making the most mechanical errors. Confidence in a match up does seem also affect your basic skills, while when im really confident in a matchup, usually my mechanics are alot more focused and im more aggressively getting vision on the map.
I will say tho, none of Zest's LotV play has impressed me as much as his HotS play did when he was at his peak. His decision making and everything was just so beautiful.
Well, back now, Zest's build in the ace match made absolutely no sense to me and his play looked bad in general. Deserved win for Jin Air, they basically never make coaching/player selection mistakes against KT. TY or Stats could have won KT the match but they were too scared of Maru. And I think at this point Stats is better than Zest in 2 out of 3 matchups.
Looking forward to those KT vs Jin Air grand finals though, this was a really fun match.

The last time they played they had a really epic game that Stats probably should have won. So I'm not sure that's still true. Zest is clearly the best PvT player on the planet though.
But Jin Air didn't send out Maru. I don't think Maru has actually played an ace match this year.

And I think at this point Stats is better than Zest in 2 out of 3 matchups.
Looking forward to those KT vs Jin Air grand finals though, this was a really fun match.
except Stats is really bad vs maru
The last time they played they had a really epic game that Stats probably should have won. So I'm not sure that's still true. Zest is clearly the best PvT player on the planet though.
But Jin Air didn't send out Maru. I don't think Maru has actually played an ace match this year.
From the styles themselves, Stats' style is good for maru and stats said (I remember once but prob more) that he was scared of maru. Obviously tho, no one knows, but the same goes for zest vs rogue and other players.

Idk, the last PvTs I've seen Stats play are a while back already, but they were pretty much Zest's style and that's the one Maru can't handle. Need to see more from Stats I guess.
KT expected Maru in the ace match thats why they sent out Zest (whos 5-1 to Maru this yeah i think). Otherwise probably they send out Stats who is more expirienced PvZ this year. Not that in matters anyway the finals will be KT vs Jin Air for sure !

Stats vs sOs was.. interesting. Leenock vs Cure was mostly just poor play from Cure. Zest vs Rogue was Zest looking poor and Rogue good. TY vs Maru had some nice stuff.

I'd say they were pretty good overall, although I probably wouldn't recommend either of the Rogue vs Zest games. Cure vs Leenock was a bit of a trainwreck but it was still fun.

From what I have seen, Zest does more radical play whilst Stats does not. I think that's the crucial difference here.
