WCS points rewards players that fly and play around the world. It doesn't reward skill.

I wasn't discussing BW DTs ; ) I meant why sOs made DTs in this game even after he had forced Spores. I thought we were discussing a hypothetical SG/DT macro build. My personal take is to make WCS/GSL/SSL more points, which essentially does the same thing. The fact that this 500 point gain is the most Hyun has gotten from any result all year is how broken the system is. You have players like Dear/Dark who qualified for all 6 starleagues of the year or players like Bunny who do amazingly well in 2 of the 3 seasons. Hell Mana is the only finalist of the 9 WCS tournaments (6 starleagues and 3 WCS) that isn't at Blizzcon. Yet Fantasy and Hyun are playing for a spot instead of any of them.

I wanted Dark to take the last spot over anyone else because he stayed in Korea and did excellent in Kespa cups, but you're being really unfair to Hyun. Hyun actually knocked Dark out of SSL in the RO8 of S2, and this tournament he performed really well even taking out Rain, whereas Dark choked vs Leenock. Dear also hasn't done super amazing this year but narrowly lost his spot to a 3-4.

Flying these guys out again later just for a tiebreaker kinda sucks. I suspect they might do it in korea since they both live there anyways I doubt it, I think it'd be kind of cheap. Also not on-location, and they were big on that in 2013 It's kind of terrible to "reward" the top ranked player of the entire season by being the only player without a known match-up. I'd be a little upset if I were herO. I agree with this but at the same time herO is a league better than both of them and everyone involved is practicing for two matches. Its not like one of the potential 16th place players gets the same match up again versus herO. Rain is much better than Hyun, skill-wise & result-wise, still lost to him...

WCS points rewards players that fly and play around the world. It doesn't reward skill. This is pure short-sightedness. The system currently is healthy for the scene. Good players are encouraged to travel, so that tournaments like IEM, DH are stacked as hell. Otherwise expected money sometimes does not worth the travel cost. Besides, we still have like 10 absolute best players (except Polt, Hydra, Lilbow, Hyun/Fanta) at Blizzcon, so the chance of having the real champion is still high. Like the WC, it reserves lower spots for weak regions, and that's perfectly fine.
