Senseless bashing of foreigners and WCS game quality is not permitted today. Criticism is fine, but let's not repeat yesterday's mess. Games can be enjoyed without the presence of constant vitriol.
14:18 GMT (+00:00) Edit: This is your friendly reminder that whining about Protoss is an old and tired thing. Don't.

Really, really happy for Lilbow!
And also a little bit sad because of the poisonous parts of this community....

Aligulac tends to overrate people who don't lose, which is really hard in korea. Hence his vZ predictions.

Gratz to Lilbow. Deserved win, good and consistent play. A bit sad for Mana that he couldn't bring it home infront of his homecrowd. Nevertheless a very good performance from him. A bit unexpected for many but that makes it only sweeter.

Production value and the crowd were really good, all in all a very nice and enjoyable tournament.

I hope that Lilbow manages to take a series off a korean player at Blizzcon. The local bitchboys meltdown will be epic and their tears may very well wash TL away from the internet and the salt could potentially damage internet connections worldwide. Ok I hope it doesn't go that far..

There's too much luck involved in Starcraft for there to be 0-100 matchups even in a bo5.

0-100 = yeah there's a possibility but it's like 1 in 1000 series, so closer to 0-100 than 1-99

If Lilbow played 200 bo5 against these players he'd win at least one.

The way Starcraft works makes really unexpected upsets a much more common occurrence than in other sports or games.

blizzcon isn't supposed to have the 16 best player of earth at the first place, it's a end year tournament where the champions of all of the regions (korea, wcs) meet (like the world cup)

if you watch SSL, GSL and proleague on a daily basis this is where you can watch the 16 best player of the world all year long

and that's great
yeah I guess we should take WCS and Blizzcon for what they're worth, and just try to enjoy ourselves.

that's why i think the complain coming from lilbow being at blizzcon comes from a wrong definition of what is blizzcon in their point of view

No. Some people just have trouble processing the fact that a Korean passport is not a win condition in SC2, and will bitch and whine whenever a decently good Korean is beaten by a foreigner.

For me it's legitimate to be disappointed that some middle tier player take the place of better players at blizzcon but the bitching should have happened also with Polt and Hydra and maybe even with Fantasy and can still happen with Hyun. I didn't notice the same level of rage with those players and with Lilbow. It definitely has to do with his nationality.

football is crazy random compared to SC2. I mean I (~top 800 EU) could never take a bo3 out of Zest, while amateurs can beat Manchester.

I guess. Though that's partially because football tournaments have mediocre formats. And team sports are inherently more random than 1v1.

I was more thinking of tennis where the dominance of top players can be stifling.

vs Hyun : 35-65
vs sOs : 10-90

I think he might be even with HyuN. I'd also change polt to 35-65 and Dream to 10-90.

The way Starcraft works makes really unexpected upsets a much more common occurrence than in other sports or games.

depends which sport you're talking, results in football are pretty random too, especially in national cups.

football is crazy random compared to SC2. I mean I could never take a bo3 out of Zest, while amateurs can beat Manchester.

even a bo1 is too much for us haha, he just needs to scout his main xD

let's do the odds for every opponent :

vs Rain : 20-80
vs Classic : 0-100
vs Polt : 45-55
vs Dream : 30-70 ? (which Dream is going to show up at Blizzcon ?)
vs Zest : 0-100
vs Rogue : 10-90
vs Byul : 1-99
vs FanTaSy : 30-70
vs INno : 10-90
vs Dear : 35-65
vs Gumiho : 45-55
vs Hyun : 35-65
vs sOs : 10-90

Aligulac says Lilbow wins a bo5:

vs herO : 44.08%
vs PartinG : 54.13%
vs Life : 51.58%
vs Maru : 32.21%
vs Hydra : 47.79%
vs Rain : 40.72%
vs Classic : 30.50%
vs Polt : 34.75%
vs Dream : 30.86%
vs Zest : 17.91%
vs Rogue : 63.59%
vs Byul : 58.93%
vs FanTaSy : 47.72%
vs INno : 17.31%
vs Dear : 47.34%
vs Gumiho : 41.80%
vs Hyun : 56.76%
vs sOs : 37.10%

So only Zest and Innovation are really out of his league

Aligulac always over-inflates the ratings of players who play weaker opponents

I mean roughly 60% chance to win vs Rogue or Byul? over 50 for Parting and Life? higher chance to beat Byul than hydra? You can see why these values are no good

yeah aligulac is ridiculous when it comes to comparing people that don't play the same opponents. Remember Kingkong, ForGG, Byun atm...

blizzcon isn't supposed to have the 16 best player of earth at the first place, it's a end year tournament where the champions of all of the regions (korea, wcs) meet (like the world cup)

if you watch SSL, GSL and proleague on a daily basis this is where you can watch the 16 best player of the world all year long

and that's great
yeah I guess we should take WCS and Blizzcon for what they're worth, and just try to enjoy ourselves.

that's why i think the complain coming from lilbow being at blizzcon comes from a wrong definition of what is blizzcon in their point of view

It definitely has to do with his nationality.

obviously
