Getting further ahead doesn't let your opponent get back on track, it puts you further ahead and slants every subsequent engagement further in your favour. The best way to let your opponent get back in the game is to go for the throat and miss. You can't go for the throat and miss if you are super ahead already. You realize that at one point Hyun was at 100 supply while Classic was at 150 after Hyun attacked Classic. And then Hyun was on 150, while Classic was on 170, with very very superior army. You can let opponent get back on track if you are trying to take as many bases and follow "get more ahead logic" while opponent is managing to get army back. Classic did a lot of back and forth dancing, doing pretty much nothing. I am not sure what game did you watch, but Classic had a lot of moments where he could just crush Hyun with a-click without even using ANY of his spells and abilities.

It's kind of dumb not to do damage when you are in a prime position to do so. "Get more ahead" doesn't mean giving up an opportunity to do damage and a potential advantage. It means you should rather improve your position when you don't have an ample opportunity to do damage.

Sick ro8 matches. Best Terran, Zerg, and Protoss in the top half along with a top 3 Terran. That'll be a good day. ByuL will avenge his roach sensei and obliterate Classic. I think there's a very real possibility he goes to the finals ^^
