When you have two overlord you can position them far enough away to be safe from Queen's attack (or he really had to commit a lot) and still cover all path. Plus given the big commitment in zergling it was unlikely that life had more than two queen.

You don't have to hard counter an all-in in order to stay alive... Just play a little bit more conservative, make a round of drones less if you see him building a ton of lings. And, you know, scout him.
But somehow players tend to do stuff like Nexus first no scout or double hatch before pool in deciding games against Life and each and every time he just makes a bunch of Lings and kills them.

Of course it's not simple to beat Life, but going pure greed against a notorious quasi-cheeser is just silly.
