Nah but I mean, can you name without bias another Zerg who changed the meta all by himself in two MUs? Who found the way to be successful mostly via strats and not via stellar macro like soO or micro like Life in a time where Zergs were weak?

Life was the only zerg to play aggressive during BL/infestor era. Nestea literally invented modern heavy eco zerg. Stephano built a lot of roaches because at the time protoss was taking very fast thirds all the time

You're forgetting about the TSL Zergs.

That Antiga game where Hyun refused to go BL/infestor vs MaNa and just dropped roaches

Suprised anyone thought he did He gave all of his mojo to Life after all.

Jaedong has never had as much mojo as Life.

I'd actually expect Life to slump if he was given mojo from Jaedong.

I'm kinda torn, very happy Jaedong is playing again, but on the other hand the LRs are now back to this...

Life is one of the greatest of all time. If Hydra gave his mojo to Jaedong in BW, Id expect Jaedong to slump then too. They are just in different tiers of players.

Yeah right now there is no doubt about that I agree. But it kinda feels like nobody sees what Jaedong already did in sc2, when for every other player his achievements would be huge.

He also gets way more fan hype based on his legacy for lesser results than most players in sc2. It goes both ways. That particular fact is why I usually cheer against him

I don't really understand how you can cheer against someone, because the casters/fans hype him too much. If he was a dick or cheater or whatever ok, but cheering against somebody with his personality/attitude is somewhat extreme imo. I don't think he deserves that because you think his fans are annoying.

Well but we had this conversation before I think . No biggie and I just hope Jaedong shows solidd games tomorrow!

Btw I only saw Jaedong play SC:BW once at WCG 2008/9 which I was watching for wc3, before I really started following sc with sc2. So I am a Jaedong fan because of sc2 mainly, not just because of his BW past.

Of course I watched tons of Jaedong BW vods since then, but I wouldn't have done that if he hadn't won me over in sc2.
Stories need villains.
Ones Hero can be another villains.
It's just a way to make it more fun in the end as is cheering for someone.
I Don't cheer against Solar I cheer for whomever solar is Playing against :D
Solar is a cool dude IRL otherwise.

do you really think that this is all Stephano did

No I just think the criteria for this discussion of "Name zerg players who changed the meta not by being good players but by doing the same thing over and over until other people copied you" is dumb. "Who found the way to be successful mostly via strats and not via stellar macro like soO or micro like Life" is so limiting it's not even funny

Saying that Stephano 'built a lot of roaches' is like saying that INnoVation 'built a lot of hellbats' or Rain 'a lot of Colossi'. That's a gross oversimplification that can be made with any player to make him look bad.

It kind of weirds me out that your feelings for a player are affected by his fans haha
I am extremely indiffrent towards Jaedong btw he is before my time.

He wins a game: "THE TYRANT IS BACK FGHSUAJKLJ"
He loses a game: "I hope his condition is okay the tyrant shall return he must be tired etc"
It goes on and on and gets annoying. Leenock for example has done way more in sc2 but gets not nearly the credit

Still not JD's fault though

mhmm...which is why I don't hate him as a person, I just want him to lose so I don't have to read the overhyped tyrant is back messages with dancing sheep

How do you feel about Flash?

Flash has waaay more anti fans.

Yeah I agree. It never really felt like Flash had that many fans beside the very beginning when he first switched just because of the hype. There are plenty of other players with bigger and louder fan bases these days but Flash still gets a lot of hate

IEM Toronto

MC 2-1 Flash

never seen so much salt

Look at the LR. It also has significant amounts of anti fans gloating.

never have I felt as much as stuchiu as I did then

Three Hatch before Pool is an adaptation of an old BW strat anyways, but Jaedong was not the first person to use it in SC2. Stephano and DRG did it before Jaedong if I remember correctly.

Stephano, the greatest innovator Zerg ever had

I will dispute that claim till my dying day

How though? To me it looks like claiming that Mvp isn't the greatest innovator Terran ever had.

This has to be swag_bro's alt account right?

Nah but I mean, can you name without bias another Zerg who changed the meta all by himself in two MUs? Who found the way to be successful mostly via strats and not via stellar macro like soO or micro like Life in a time where Zergs were weak?

well, you have to remember though how stellar Stephano's micro was

Stephano was one of the best at setting up engagements to go along with your point

That's why Polt vs Stephano matches were so good.

That game on Metalopolis.

I want Polt vs Stephano back TT best rivalry in 2012
To all the haters: you deserve to witness many, many more Serral victories, worthy of the godlike player he is.

Hate out of ignorance, that is what it is.
People just don't want to know anything about the history of the game. For me, as a bw fan, it is always sad, if they only knew they would understand.

I was never a fan of TargA because there was not much "finesse" in his game.

But on the other hand, this game.

Yeah, because no-one disliked Flash in BW..
