But considering age, yes, you are right. I just don't think that the age thing is really it, I mean there have been many players very succesful even though they were older, see NesTea. Guy approached his 30s at his dominance. Nestea is the only person to have done that in almost any esport. He's an exception of the exceptions. Boxer wasn't exactly young when he was good as well, though. Boxer was pretty young when he was considered a bonjwa. Boxer was like in his early to mid 20s when he really hit his bonjwa level. Nestea was 29 or 30 when he hit his. There are so many mitigating factors with how young the metagame was in both of their cases that I don't think referring to them as Bonjwas really gives the right idea when comparing them to the elite players of the more established metagames. Yes, they had strategic brilliance, but it wasn't combined with the ridiculous mechanics that partially defined later dominant players.

TIL Jaedong invented mass larva and 3 hatch before pool
|
Three Hatch before Pool is an adaptation of an old BW strat anyways, but Jaedong was not the first person to use it in SC2. Stephano and DRG did it before Jaedong if I remember correctly.

His BW mojo was siiiiiiick *sigh* OF COURSE whenever I say anything negative about JD I am obviously talking about sc2 only His 2013 was pretty siiiick It was okay. The Blizzcon run was miraculous as was the WCS season 2 when he finally learned how to beat protoss but he always got super exposed by better players in the finals I have infinite respect for JD's SC2 career for what he did in ZvP matchup. By getting bopped by 6 pylons and 3 cannons in front of his natural? by popularizing 3 hatch before pool, beating Protoss deathball without swarm hosts but with perfect unit composition and control, popularizing mass larva playstyle and inveting the double hydra den timing. mass larva style play was nestea. Multiple players other than Jaeodng used unit comps other than Swarmhosts to beat protoss. And a lot of players used 3 hatch before pool. I don't think there is a definitive answer for whose innovations those were. Let me live in my world where his ZvP was mesmerizing
His ZvP was good, but he wasn't a revolutionist.

I'd take maybe Bunny and Marinelord based off recent play but idk how much further I'd go among foreign terrans. I mean at the end of the day it's still foreign terrans... the weakest pool of players in the overall history of sc2 Maybe MajOr mech I dunno but yeha foreign terrans generally suck not atm I'm not getting my hopes up. Lucifron never forget.

Life is one of the greatest of all time. If Hydra gave his mojo to Jaedong in BW, Id expect Jaedong to slump then too. They are just in different tiers of players. Yeah right now there is no doubt about that I agree. But it kinda feels like nobody sees what Jaedong already did in sc2, when for every other player his achievements would be huge. He also gets way more fan hype based on his legacy for lesser results than most players in sc2. It goes both ways. That particular fact is why I usually cheer against him It kind of weirds me out that your feelings for a player are affected by his fans haha I am extremely indiffrent towards Jaedong btw he is before my time. He wins a game: "THE TYRANT IS BACK FGHSUAJKLJ" He loses a game: "I hope his condition is okay the tyrant shall return he must be tired etc" It goes on and on and gets annoying. Leenock for example has done way more in sc2 but gets not nearly the credit
