It was okay. The Blizzcon run was miraculous as was the WCS season 2 when he finally learned how to beat protoss but he always got super exposed by better players in the finals

I have infinite respect for JD's SC2 career for what he did in ZvP matchup.

By getting bopped by 6 pylons and 3 cannons in front of his natural?

by popularizing 3 hatch before pool, beating Protoss deathball without swarm hosts but with perfect unit composition and control, popularizing mass larva playstyle and inveting the double hydra den timing.

I just don't think that the age thing is really it, I mean there have been many players very succesful even though they were older, see NesTea. Guy approached his 30s at his dominance.

Nestea is the only person to have done that in almost any esport. He's an exception of the exceptions.

Boxer wasn't exactly young when he was good as well, though.

Boxer was pretty young when he was considered a bonjwa.

Boxer was like in his early to mid 20s when he really hit his bonjwa level.

Nestea was 29 or 30 when he hit his.

I'd take maybe Bunny and Marinelord based off recent play but idk how much further I'd go among foreign terrans. I mean at the end of the day it's still foreign terrans... the weakest pool of players in the overall history of sc2

Also won with a 6pool in ZvZ.

he was absolutely NOT the most successful player in 2013 LOL. Also he was god awful in ZvP everyone made fun of him for it until like July or August

6 finals in premier tournaments and 2 more semis. I guess Taeja won more?

I'd actually expect Life to slump if he was given mojo from Jaedong.

I'm kinda torn, very happy Jaedong is playing again, but on the other hand the LRs are now back to this...

Life is one of the greatest of all time. If Hydra gave his mojo to Jaedong in BW, Id expect Jaedong to slump then too. They are just in different tiers of players.

Yeah right now there is no doubt about that I agree. But it kinda feels like nobody sees what Jaedong already did in sc2, when for every other player his achievements would be huge.

He also gets way more fan hype based on his legacy for lesser results than most players in sc2. It goes both ways. That particular fact is why I usually cheer against him

mass larva style play was nestea. Multiple players other than Jaeodng used unit comps other than Swarmhosts to beat protoss. And a lot of players used 3 hatch before pool. I don't think there is a definitive answer for whose innovations those were.

Weakest in SC2 skill maybe, but not in terms of train power (:

Though I wonder how many of those SC2 Jaedong fans were really watching him in BW or just jumping on the hype wagon, same with Flash.

So was soO's 2014 was still an incredible ( and heartbreaking) year

soO's 2014 would probably be #1 if we made a top 10 of the most heartbreaking years for progamers )':

Easily

What about the year NaDa's father died and he started slumping? Its doesn't get much worse than that.

Heart has superb bio TvZ. JD never stood a chance

Suprised anyone thought he did He gave all of his mojo to Life after all.

Jaedong has never had as much mojo as Life.

It kind of weirds me out that your feelings for a player are affected by his fans haha
I am extremely indiffrent towards Jaedong btw he is before my time.

there is nothing more sad than an aging veteran

Heart is like 1 year younger

given the legacy that lies on JD's shoulders, I doubt Heart would achieve even a small fraction of it. But considering age, yes, you are right.

Boxer in SC1? He was 23 or 24. In SC2 he was never that good.

Blasphemy. BoxeR made a ro4 in GSL
To all the haters: you deserve to witness many, many more Serral victories, worthy of the godlike player he is.
