I remember the XGC events from way back. I haven't heard from Khazidea or RoyalMarine in a long long time.

Abomb is not currently active. He said he's on a break from SC2. Probably until LotV beta.

Hi. Preliminary online rounds are scheduled to be announced on the 22nd February. You will have from then until 15th March to play your Bo3.

Preliminary round was something we instituted for scheduling purposes so as many people as possible could get casted and we could finish up in sufficient time.
We mightn't institute it if people are thinking of flying over from afar, last time it was pretty much exclusively an Irish affair and we all know each other so were happy to do a prelim stage to smooth the schedule
|
You need a ticket before the preliminary round because otherwise we wouldnt know who the competitors are. Also the final date for buying a ticket is before the beginning of the online round.
That being said, there are can be exceptions for people. Especially considering the longer travel time.
Basically what PacWac said

EDIT: You can not be eliminated in the online round. You will play one Bo3 and that will decide who you play at the offline event.

*Bump.
For those who are potentially up for coming over, and indeed the wider issue of people being reluctant to put money down for an event they mightn't be able to make myself and some of the other admins have come up with a workaround of sorts.
As I casted about 16 hours over 2 days last time, I didn't participate as a player, same with other admins as we like to eat and such mundane activities.
However, due to the aforementioned issues we're all willing to throw down the money to buy player passes, which we can then transfer after the purchase deadline. Worst case scenario will of course myself embarrassing myself as a playing participant so I'll be desperate to shift it.
Other things to bear in mind: -Dublin is a pretty solid city for nightlife. -Lots of other events including League and console tournies will be running, there was a big pub quiz last time and other non-SC related activities. -Northern Ireland's premier only casting duo scouted out the strip clubs and casinos last time, with the intention of leading the eSports horde in debauchery at this event.

Map pool finalised:
Expedition Lost Overgrowth Vaani Research Station Catallena Outboxer Frost Deadwing
Format wise map picks operate as such.
In a Bo3: Each player gets one map veto. Admin uses RNG to pick the starting map. Loser's pick from then on. In a Bo5: Exactly the same process For the Bo7 Grand Finals: Set map order. Decided using RNG which will be showcased on stream #Transparency
|
Totally hyped for G4, going to have to take a look at the map Outboxer. Haven't played on in it ages.
|
Online registration has now closed. Player tickets must now be purchased at the door on the Saturday morning at 9am. OP has been updated with all new information including map pool, prices, tournament rules and schedule.
I can not stress this enough, if you're coming to compete, bring earphones. Not headphones, earphones. You really don't want to be borrowing these.

Stream going live soon, some hotel-related technical issues but we'll have them fixed ASAP!
|
300€ prize pool for 22 players? Or how many there is playing? 22 x 25€ = 550€. I have used to see players pay max 60-70% of the prize pool and LAN/organizer pays the rest
|
couldnt make it but I hope you guys have fun! Please make a blog on TL after the events with pictures!
