I mean what kind of hacks makes aLive have to play Rain as his first opponent...

In just his own bracket other players in the same round got to play Nado/Terror/Choya. Sad times

Also I dislike the format. If it's going to be double elimination make it double elimination. Some people got a FREE PASS into double elimination with two straight byes and some people got Rain in round one and didn't have a chance for redemption.

Also I dislike that it wasn't streamed.

SIGH

What the f*** just happened to Code S? LOL. The more I scrutinize who got in and who didn't.. my sense of wtfness just grows. Also not happy that this change in the GSL has led to DRG, who got ro8 last season, will now lose his 12 or 13 code s in a row streak.... boooooooooooooo

And why wasn't it streamed? It is literally GSL caliber players.. I don't know why they do this to themselves with qualifiers, there is immense interest.

I think the reasoning is they don't want to put extra pressure on the players by streaming their matches

That's absolutely not true

Honestly, when people like sOs, Zest, Flash, Bbyong, Cure, Byul, and DongRaeGu don't get through their bracket, it probably is...
Those listed are probably all better than the top 8 of WCS Global (which will humorously, be the other Koreans who managed to pass the qualifications)

The new system increases the chance to have one foreigner at the WCS Global final, but now with more Korean tournaments and so many Koreans being on foreign teams to play everywhere, the best Korean players will have more opportunities to be there, so the quality of play there should at least be similar to this year. Besides Zest, none of those names made it to this years WCS finals either. Classic/herO/Bomber/MMA/Taeja/San/Life/Innovation is still an incredibly solid top 8 regardless, and definitely harder than a random bracket. Though I do agree with this being the toughest GSL qualifier in history.

I think by "WCS Global" he meant the new WCS AM+EU, not Global Finals.

Ah, that would make more sense. I still don't fully agree, but it would at least be WAY closer to the truth.
Cute

Yeah why put any pressure on them before they go into the most pressure filled league in Starcraft? Wouldn't want them to be prepared!

maybe gom just doesn't want to waste resources streaming undeserving players who can't win a match then. idk. I'm just saying that's the reasoning that's been given before

But they'll probably stream Marineking in Code S? HEYO

In all seriousness I guess you're right but still it is disappointing, and I think they would rake in a lot of viewers if they did stream it. A lot of people want to see some players we don't see all that much of

When was the last GSL Qualifier that was streamed?
They dont stream them. When you have 8 brackets per time with Bo3 R16 starting, how many Games can you cast?
You would have to use alot of community streams and they would create lag, chaos and disturbe the players and enlarge the qualifier.
GSL Qualifier where allways at one day and thus streaming them would lead to problems which could make the time schedule worthless.
The SSL Stream was not much more then jump here into this bracket, jump there into that game, talks something and jump right into this game.

You could argue that they should have more qualifier with larger brackets, so that upsets can be correctet.
I disagree with that:
When the topplayers are not able to win their bracket, bad for them, good for the viewer, they get strong fresh faces who could be better them then and now get a chance. Maybe a bit more training for this special environments.

Very well (although I think some games could still be streamed)

Can we have the replays at least?

IMO Taeja is a bigger beast in matchups other than TvT than Flash.

It's been a long time since Startale & MVP had the most players in code S. It really is 2012 all over again, but I think that means great things for the competition next year.

KT, besides TY, didn't show up for these qualifiers, but I'm sure they'll improve. The entire team has a tendency to either all do well together (Round 1 PL, Finals PL), or be pretty bad together, but there's too much talent to go to waste.

They don't lol, SKT has the most

sick results, so hyped for MC and soulkey. sad about no koreign zergs making it though did hyun try to qualify?? zerg isn't doing too well in general it seems. strange, because i still think of zerg as a strong race, but i feel like zerg has a smaller variety of styles and options in the current meta. i wonder if there will be a big shift toward hyper aggressive zerg play a la life? let's start bane busting protoss :D

as always i laugh at people who bemoan players like zest, soo, flash etc. not making it. i swear sometimes it seems like starcraft fans hate anyone but the most recent top players doing well. i think some people would be happier watching a zest vs soon best of 999 series instead of even having a GSL i like watching the best players too but it would be stake if no one ever had ups and downs! why the bonjwa obsession? bonjwas just mean weak competition

i totally understand if you're just a huge fan of a particular player and want them to succeed, but the "all the best players should be the best forever" is so stodgy

Yeah Hyun tried to qualify. He lost to Panic 2-0 (Panic was a pleasant surprise this qualifier, winning first in his bracket 2-0 over Hyun 2-1 over Cure and 2-0 over Hack!)
