It's a real shame that a player so accomplished and talented hasn't won a GSL or WCS event though. It's kind of like how Leonardo DiCaprio hasn't won an Oscar yet.... It's called Summer of Taeja and summer ends on Tuesday, so he lost pretty much on schedule...

I don't hate Taeja, I just think it's neat when a favorite falls out like this

I think he's just have trouble with his self confidence and mental resilience. (see his constant talk about retiring and how he never seems to feel entirely good and at ease with his gameplay - syaing his TvT sucks when he should probably be one of the best in the world) On 3-days events, he always have the first rounds to build up confidence and mental strength against lower level opponents, he then builds a momentum that carries him over the week end and makes him unstoppable, as he seem to play better and better until the finals wherer he often crush the most hyped opponents like they in plat league. On WCS/GSL he never has enough games to build that momentum and just come at every round starting from scratch again. It's ok on ro32 cause opponents are not extremely good yet, but in ro16 he just doesn't have enough mental strength to go pass his opponents. Give him pigbaby and Hyun in the third day of a dreamhack, after he already played like 20 games in the tournament, he will simply demolish them cause he ll have the self confidence needed. In a WCS group though, he's just too fragile to give his full potential. And that's why his proleague results in 2013 were bad too. The opposite of Taeja is Polt. Polt may not be as good has Taeja, but he has an unbreakable self confidence, he's not awkward (compare Taeja with a champage bottle and Polt raising the US banner and you have the difference between the socially awkward and the alpha minded guys) and thus he's able to defeat anybody on a one day event with preparation and pressure, yet he has a harder time winning in 3 days event with plenty of games and competitors. That''s why Polt has won 3 GSL/WCS and Taeja none. In a "real" professionnal sport, that kind of player will have a mental coach to work with to overcome this issue, but in Starcrraft 2 Taeja is left alone with it, and is probably alone somewhere, thiking again about retiring.
