I haven't played seriously for over a year but I was a gold leaguer when I stopped and I don't think you should ever cheese when you're below diamond. I used to go 9 pool into two base muta in ZvP because it was hella fun but that did nothing for my macro practice, which was the bane of every other match up.

As a Diamond player I echo this sentiment. Learn to play safe and work on your mechanics because those are more important to your growth as a player than learning how to cheese. If you are a Zerg master things like 1/1 Roach timings with speed or getting your larva injects down more than mastering your 9 Pool into Banelings or 10 Pool.

Yeah sure a few cheap wins can definitely give a short burst of "yeah bitch!" energy but nothing compares to winning a fair-and-square hatch first macro game.
