just a theory though

Updating the OP is always so painful when my hope from the first 2 hours of the day is so crushed. I'm always tempted to just put in the results I was so convinced we might actually get.

Yeah, it's the outcome I expected but not quite the way I expected it to happen.

Just came back to see the results. After watching the first series, I had such hopes for qxc

I just looked through the 2013-2014 WCS records for series where either foreigners win the first series against a Korean, and lose the second series against the same Korean, and series where the Korean wins the first series against a foreigner and lose the rematch against the same player. I found 14 instances where a foreigner won the first, and lost the rematch, and 1 of the opposite. They are:
aLive > KiLLeR Revival > Goswser Revival > Suppy Ryung > MajOr Minigun > Apocalypse (the exception) Nestea > Vibe Taeja > MajOr Duckdeok > Dimaga Stardust > Kas Stardust > Welmu MC > Thorzain Taeja > MajOr Hyun > puCK Oz > qxc Yoda > Bunny
I did this quickly so I might have missed some games, but it seems that Koreans just don't lose against opponents they've just beaten.
