you can say the same thing about the entire wcs points system. there was backlash about the players who made it to blizzcon not being the best (alive etc). it makes no sense and is needlessly confusing to add random playoffs to a set system just because someone retired

They dont need to play, somebody should probably tell them. Otherwise they'd fuck up the whole qualifier. (They're not checked-in though, so no issue yet)
